It happens to a lot of people, young and old; it's called 'obstructive sleep apnea', which is when the muscles in your throat become so relaxed, that your airway is briefly blocked until your nervous system reacts to the on-setting hypoxia. The difference is that old people's muscles aren't quite as good at stiffening back up...

So, yeah, I was just really, really relaxed, it seems.
Sounds like a peaceful way to die...

Sounds fun. Also, communism
It was quite fun; I was a reckless kid, got into a lot of physical accidents, too many to count... I had basically no self-preservation instinct.
And, yes, communism. I was born in a time period that was somewhat briefly after a revolution that overthrew the communist dictatorship in the country.
They broadcasted their mock trial and executions on TV; I remember that the dictator's wife complained that the ropes were uncomfortable, and asked if they could please be loosened. One of the soldiers in the room laughed and replied: "What's it matter? You're gonna be dead soon, anyway.". That guy was brutal. I was like, oooh, cold.

Sounds like a peaceful way to die...
Indeed, it is regarded as one of the most fortunate ways to go. You simply go to sleep and keel over without being aware of it.

Huh, very interesting. I have heard of communist uprisings in school. What country if I'm allowed to ask.

It's fortunate, but It still somewhat creeps me out... Like, what if you wake up while your lungs are shut off?

Romania. On the day of the uprising, hundreds of thousands of people gathered in front of the Palace of the Parliament to protest and to demand blood. The dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu, tried to give a speech to calm down the crowd, promising higher salaries and pensions, to no avail; eventually, he impulsively announced that he will lower the taxes. Basically, he was trying to do everything to bribe the population. The capital city's mayor and a very large chunk of high-ranking military members turned on him, too. By that point, there had already been a civil war for days, between the common people and military loyalists/secret police constantly attacking and murdering each other in the streets.
After the protesters stormed the building, he and his wife escaped via helicopter in an attempt to flee to one of their secret bunkers; mid-flight, their pilot received national flight denial, and was forced to land the helicopter, or else he'd get shot down. He told them that he could do nothing more, and even the pilot's unit commander told them: "There has been a revolution, you are on your own now. Good luck!" and refused their orders.

After they were forced to go on foot, they asked strangers to drive them to where they needed to be. One man agreed to drive them, and convinced them to hide in an institute building for the time being; their driver then secretly coordinated with the institute director to lock them inside. Authorities were notified and they were arrested shortly after. Crazy stuff...
It's fortunate, but It still somewhat creeps me out... Like, what if you wake up while your lungs are shut off?
It's very unlikely. If your body is already so deeply relaxed that it cannot breathe, it definitely won't have the energy to wake up. I guess that could technically happen?

Good point, it was an error on my part. But let's just pretend I'm being inclusive towards potential others in hiding

I think, if I were a vampire, I would definitely be part of the Hecata clan.

"A motley collection of necromantic vampire bloodlines, the Hecata clan are united in the pursuit of a single subject: Death. They are students of the afterlife and resurrectionists of the dead — or worse. Criminal kingpins, the self motivated, those who have seen death, occultists, medical professionals, all have things that can attract any branch of the Hecata and sees them as candidates for Embrace. Knowledge of death is also sought after, those with academic, scientific, or religious experience in death or the afterlife are approached."

I tick off 7 of 8 of these criteria... I also have their compulsion towards morbidity. That said, I actually really dislike Hecata. It's way too loyalist and structure-oriented for me, in spite of the fact that I'd fit right in.

hi hammer

In an alternate universe, with a lil' bit more determination, I would be a Nosferatu...
tbh I pictured you as a Toreador without the obsession on beauty (might be wrong on that?)

how are you doing (hammer n jesus)?

Nosferatu might be ugly, but they have compassion and big hearts. Like the page says, tainted on the outside, but not on the inside.

I'm definitely not a Toreador. My fashion sense is dull and to the point (all black, or black and white), I avoid luxuries and try to live frugally, and I have a low sex drive. I used to be somewhat handsome before I got depressed, but starvation has left me a husk.
On the other hand, I am very obsessed with death. Fascinating and thrilling subject. I'm the only person I know who actually gets kind of giddy about decomposing bodies. And let me tell you, explaining the process of cell autolysis does not woo the ladies. Apoptosis is not much better, either.

People in person do like me quite a bit, since I just don't speak of my interests and I learn more about theirs, instead. I have a little bit of knowledge in almost everything (just a little, though).

I suppose, but in my mind you sound fancy so I guess that's why I pictured you as a Toreador
as in: i think you are charismatic

a shame, really

I'd have to be paid a pretty hefty wage to put up with the people here on a regular basis and play mediator. Psychologist, fact checker, negotiator and moderator all in one.
