Domestic pets are usually the better of the two, although nothing can truly replicate human companionship (for better or worse...) Have you ever been married or in a serious long term relationship? If so how were they? If I were to estimate from what ive seen in my short time on this shithole of a planet, id say at least 75% of relationships are toxic even if they don't seem like it from the outside looking in so make of that what you will... The best advice ive ever gotten is to never be in a relationship for the sake of being in one because it'll more than likely end in disaster, I wish I got this advice before going on them dating apps 🤢. You've just gotta let it happen naturally and hope they have similar values and interests to you (and that they're not an annoying pain in the rear end) and if they don't then there's no point going any further with them. That crap about how there's somebody for everybody in this world is rubbish and is debunked by doing basic maths and applying logic but it is possible to find a healthy relationship... if you're lucky... Most things in this life are determined purely by the roll of the dice.

I've never been married, but I was in a serious relationship for about 5 years. It was nice at the beginning, but inevitably the arguments began and we separated. I don't talk to her anymore. I don't even know where she is living. She was an Hispanic girl, so maybe she went back to her country. IDK. One thing I learned is familiarity breeds contempt.

I'm sorry to hear that. I agree with what you're saying about familiarity breeding contempt, relationships are simply hard to maintain (even the healthiest of ones) especially in this crazy world were stuck in. That's why I said domestic pets are the better of the two most of the time, they're loyal to you and dependent on you and they're great companions, they're not going anywhere for 10-15 years. Most partners aren't in it for the long haul because they can't make up their bloody minds... but they can do things that our domestic pets (unfortunately) can't, talk back to us, fill our sexual needs etc etc. I actually think dating would be better at your age (if that's any consolation) well... if you can find the mental fortitude to sift through all the single mums and crazy religious nuts who are increasingly scared of dying. MOST 60+ year olds know what they want and since most of their parents are deceased or on the way out and their siblings are too old to keep in frequent contact you won't have to deal with them disapproving of you/butting into your relationship. So yeah, never say never, but obviously never get overly optimistic (which by the sounds of it you're not which is good).

You know, Clownme, it's hard to believe you're only 21. You're level of maturity is astonishing. You certainly don't see the world through rose colored glasses. You see things as they really are. When I was your age, I was so goofy.
Has exposure to the world through the internet and 24/7 news coverage forced young people to grow up faster and loose their innocence? If it has, it's kind of a shame, but reality is going to hit them sooner or later.
I think I meant lose not loose.

I appreciate you saying that, im not sure if maturity would be the right word or not, maybe it is, who knows, I describe myself plainly as a "glass half empty kinda guy", im sure you've heard of the old expression(s) about either being a glass half full/empty type of person so I won't bore you with that crap, it's pretty self explanatory anyway.

I'm not sure what's made me into one of the glass half empty brigade, if I were to hazard a guess then it'd probably have to be a mixture between my environment growing up, my less than savory experiences in life and my genetic/brain makeup.

I knew I didn't want kids at the age of 12 and started to seriously question what the hell is going on with the world/society around 14/15 when I got my first job and entered the workforce then I slowly became drained by all the mindless dribble they were teaching me at school, who the hell cares about working out the angles on a triangle, am I right?

The majority of younger Australians around my age would still fit the "glass half full" bill. Non stop news coverage and unlimited access to the internet, along with all the crap they're teaching kids at school nowadays has definetly had an impact but I wouldn't say it's had a MASSIVE impact on the mindset of the younger generation. Ultimately, who knows what makes one 21 year old glass half full and the other one glass half empty? This whole world is a massive mystery, why certain people are one way and others are another despite shared experiences is beyond me. A good example of this are serial killers, some grow up in loving homes while others are abused endlessly during their adolescence, but the end result is the same...

But as you alluded to, it's both a curse and a blessing. My outlook on life is that it's the hope that kills you and seeing the world for what it is has without a doubt killed my hope for the future. The good thing about it is that im not going to be screwed over by a woman whose not right for me for years on end and then end up paying a fortune on child support for example. Which outlook is better? Well, you can argue that until the cows come home but maybe neither of them are better.

Edit: sorry i took so long to message back im doing a few things in between.

I had to google those things you were eating because the image wasn't large enough. I dont think we have that brand here.

I'll add that to my watch later on youtube, I still haven't watched Goodfellas yet so it's better I avoid spoilers. The intro was a bit over produced where they had him put on a cheesy smile for 5 seconds straight lol.

Those are Snyder of Hanover's cheddar cheese pretzel pieces. My favorite snack along with Wise white cheddar popcorn.

1666260723340
I crave salty snack after I eat dinner. I also crave ice cream or chocolate. I bought 3 bags these today

1666260884313
I wanted 6 bags but the store only had 3. They are really candy, no medicinal properties whatsoever. They have the most intense cherry flavor of any candy I have ever eaten.
I have an unhealthy obsession with the movie Goodfellas. I admire mobsters because they have balls, but at the same time they are worthless scumbags.

I got these from the supermarket the other day

20221020 212754

They come in packets of three. They're these weird kinda fruity gum things. Unlike most gum they're hard (but supposedly not bad for your teeth, not sure if I believe that) and they're edible. They leave an odd minty/fruity aftertaste in your mouth but they're good for a quick snack. I might get more in the future.

I like candy with a fruity taste, but I never consume anything that is sugar free. I want as much sugar as I can get because my dentist needs a new set of rims for his BMW.

Dear oh dear... The dentist! You're fortunate yours will only charge you for some new rims, over here it'll cost you an arm and a leg (and a trillion dollars) just to be graced with their presence. It's fitting that we were talking about luck earlier because I got lucky in regards to my dental health that's for sure. I have relatively straight teeth and I didn't need braces and my wisdom teeth have come through no problemo. I brush 3-4 times a day and floss here and there. I know eventually ill need a tooth removed or something but hopefully ill be older than you by the time that has to happen.

Edit: or dead, they can't charge me for dental work from 6 feet under.

That's awesome Clownme. I'm so glad you have good teeth. My teeth are one of the reasons I want to kill myself. I've had so many root canals and tooth extractions and bridges and crowns. I only have a few front lower teeth that are still my own. I have to wear a partial denture everyday. My wisdom teeth were a nightmare. The so called oral surgeon that extracted the lower left impacted wisdom tooth 30 years ago damaged my inferior alveolar nerve in my jaw. Half of my chin, lip and gum are numb to this day. It drives me nuts. I wear a band aid on the side of my chin to take my mind off the numbness next to it.
Nothing can be done. I saw a micro neurosurgeon 2 years ago just for the hell of it. There are only a handful of surgeons in the US capable of repairing nerve damage in the maxillofacial region. He said at this point, surgery would just make things worse.
The reparative surgery to correct nerve damage after a wisdom tooth extraction has to done within a year after the actual extraction, not 30. I knew it was a waist of time seeing him, but he was a kind doctor and he put me on some anti inflammatory medication and gave me some dental exercises to do, but nothing helped.

Take good care of your teeth. It is very important.

People of Irish or British heritage are known for having dental problems. I don't know why. One of my dentists asked me if I was Irish and then he nodded his head as if to say A-Ha!
