  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I use a different platform for dating. (the sole reason I spend time there) There are chats, most of your posts are anonymous etc. The platform has the appeal to be allegedly anonymous. Giving the posters a feeling of security. There are so many trolls though and the people are very unempathic/rude.

I don't feel comfortable to open up there. SaSu is way more open about taboos. Stigmatization is a big issue on mainstream platforms. And I am not only refering to suicide as a topic.

On other platforms I am not sure whether they would me report to the authorities. I am not doing big crimes. But I watch TV from to time illegal, bypass paywalls stuff like that.
People on SaSu admitted to some bigger crimes in the past. And most people were not that judgemental towards them.

I could never open up on a platform where I had to fear that the police stands in front of my door. I would be way too paranoid to share my thoughts.

Moreover, have you ever read a confession thread on a normie forum? Most of the things are so vanilla. It is almost ridiculous. I think on SaSu there were like two types of people in confession threads. People who worried too much holding an apple in their hands in a supermarket even though they did not buy it. And people who admitted to pretty stunning things. Someone put it in way better terms but I cannot remember the exact wording.

I considered to post in such a confession thread that I watched gore in the past. I would have been curious about the moral outrage. Even though I regret watching it. I think I would have gotten a lot of hate. I think it was good that I decided against it. I wonder whether the people/platform would have reported me.

Though I wonder. Do the people on SaSu deal with way more severe issues hence more controversial confessions? Or are we simply more open about them? Or both?

I stay off of social media. Most of it seems to be about self promotion anyway so, I doubt people would open up about the more negative stuff. Perhaps only for sympathy if they do.

As for being reported for things. I don't really know. Is it all that common on social media even? I imagine it's quite a bit of effort to report someone to the police. It's perhaps more shocking how some extreme cases don't get reported. There was that serial killer who posted homicidal reviews on tools on Amazon. I imagine most people thought it was a joke. 😬

As for dating sites, I imagine eveyone is out to impress so, anything that might put a potential partner off, they probably omit.

I can't imagine posting what I post here anywhere else though. I'm sometimes amazed by how (mostly) kind this community is. Plus, I wouldn't want to have to defend my perspective or, wade through do-gooder platitudes if I posted vents elsewhere.
