I just want to sleep forever man...

Mostly a vent since it's a very stupid thing I did.

Almost a week ago I tried to press on my carotid artery several times to pass out and miserably failed. And days ago, after a bunch of other shit happened that ruined my day, I decided to strangle myself with a thin "rope" (if you could even call it that). I did this just to try if I could faint and stop overthinking, nothing else.
After both attempts, I noticed I had some sort of itching in the right side of my throat, giving me the urge to cough. And last night, I woke up several times due to a coughing fit. The itch still persists.
Is this a common symptom of strangling/choking or should I go to the hospital? Are there any other signs I should look out for?
Sorry for the stupid questions, I don't really want to get forcibly hospitalized due to some dumb coping mechanism but I'm worried as well. I ended up confessing all of this to my partner today and he's pissed off at me so I don't have anyone to vent to.

Give it some time.
Maybe you bruised something and it is irritated.
Sorry you irritated your partner. Some things are better kept private.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's probably just irritated and will need days to heal but I tend to overthink a lot. At least warm liquids seem to help with the coughing. And about my partner, I trust him with things like these it's just that I'm now realizing that this is getting too much for him.

I don't consider it partial hanging since I didn't have any intention to ctb, only to test the waters and see if I was able to make myself pass out. I only see what I did as some sort of coping mechanism or self-harm instead of an actual attempt

you will not be able to pass out like this, just go with hanging
I also dont get people who do 'test runs', easy to ctb on accident like this

If you do a test run on your ctb method and accidentally die, is that bad?

I'm also wondering the same thing. I've tried tying a shoelace around my neck once (I had padding on the neck). I could tie it around the front but I couldn't tie it back around the 2nd time. I also wondering if hanging is good I bought rope and can't figure out hanging because it's too hard to comprehend (I take psych meds).

It could be from that "practice run."

Anxiety can also cause throat symptoms//tics such as feeling like something is stuck in your throat when there's nothing there or throat clearing/coughing.

So you could also be having anxiety from the previous times & memory of them.

It could be a combination of both things causing it as well.

That actually sounds like my perfect situation. There would be way less panic & SI because you wouldn't be expecting it.
