Hi there,

I was wondering if overdosing on Carvedilol [generic for Coreg] as a viable way to CTB? I have had congestive heart failure but have recovered most of my heart functionality but for reasons that takes too long to explain I decided it may not be worth to keep going. I am a male in my early 30s, 6'2", 230lbs [sharing because dosage matters, right?]. I have over 200 25mg Carvedilol and was wondering if this will be quick? I have access to alcohol so i can drink myself to a stupor if needed and let the pulmonary edema do the rest.

The reason I ask is I tried reading some threads here and that helped me become aware that prescription drugs are not always a reliable way to get the job done. In my youth i tried to do a tylenol/acetaminophen overdose and i just walked away with liver damage. I don't have access to firearms and I tried the night night method but i can't get it quite right or my neck is still a little fat [I lost 40lbs and have been going to the gym consistently but there's still a good chunk of my body that's still fat].

I also saw some studies that cited beta-blocker overdose but inconclusive on how long it takes to get the job done. I have a family and I'd rather not have them see me more damaged and alive and just want it to be one final pain and be done with it.

Any advice is appreciated and thanks all! I know the obvious of "if you're going to CTB, why do you care if you make it or not?" and glad people here have the same mindset of "well if I end up surviving, i don't want to be more disabled than I already am"

Not sure if this is helpful at all, but in April I OD'd on propranolol (5000 mg). I did chew some of the pills to speed up absorption, but it was less than a quarter. Disgusting, I don't recommend. It is the most bitter substance I've ever tasted in my entire life. Just thinking about it makes me queasy.

I'm 18, 5'2, and at the time I was 100 lbs. I started getting sick 30 min after I took it. After an hour I was losing consciousness, in respiratory failure (SpO2 85%), bradycardic (40s), hypotensive (SBP 70s) and had two seizures. Paramedics and doctors saved me. If they didn't I'd probably be dead after 4 hours at most.

That's what angers me the most. If I didn't send that damn email, even at 3 am (didn't think my therapist would see it, but she did, and called 911), I would already be dead.

Thank you, it helps as looking it up it appears to be a different Beta-blocker which can cause the effect I am aiming for. Typically I take about 50mg split throughout the day. Are you able to share what was your typical dosage so I can determine the math [unless this was not your prescription, in that case, don't worry].

For what's it worth, at least, you're seeking therapy. I tried it and realized the therapists I spoke to were not great and gave up on the idea.
