I live in an apartment with people above me. Would it put them in danger if I did the charcoal method inside?

Yes. You could maybe duct tape all around the doors and vents of a one room instead? Wet towels along bottoms of doors work too. But otherwise yes they will be at risk. And if you like in apartments there's likely multiple CO detectors anyway and trying to disable those would put someone else's life at risk..

Yes, CO indoors is deadly to others as the body cannot detect it.

Gases and liquids can seep through the tiny pores of a concrete, so CO can slowly spread through concrete walls to the adjacent rooms.
