Just TOTALLY paranoid from the locked-in syndrome thing. It is literally the only thing stopping me from CTB. I want to exit soo so bad like right then and now, I just want a safe way out. I'm not even afraid from severe pain methods. I even have a rope and a good anchor, I could do it right now. It's just the nightmarish locked-in syndrome that is ruining everything for me. I saw a relative with it when I was little, it's a total total nightmare in a way no words can ever express. I'd rather live in agony for ever than, god forbid, end up like that. But I want to exit. What do I do? Any advice is much appreciated.

Also, anyone having similar fears or could I be the only one obsessing about it?

It would suck if a ctb attempt makes things worse, it's what I was trying to escape in the first place. There is always a risk.

does hanging cause this?
it can cause brain damage, but generally not lis, its a hypoxic brain injury in most cases, there is restricted blood flow to the brain during hanging, meaning that there is not enough oxygen getting to the brain, which can cause brain injury as brain cells begin to die within minutes of oxygen deprivation and brain hemorrhages are also possible which can do damage

"Near-hanging injury results in multisystem insult and injury. Acute or delayed respiratory complications can result in death. A survivor can suffer neuropsychiatric sequelae ranging from amnesia to a prolonged vegetative state. Treatment is directed toward ensuring cerebral oxygenation, lowering increased intracranial pressure, and treating respiratory distress. Psychiatric consultation will be necessary in long-term survivors. Patients should be observed for at least 24 hours after a near-hanging injury."

amnesia may not be a bad thing all things considered if your lucky too forget a bunch of traumatic memories but a vegetative state is probably the worst thing you can experience.

lis would most commonly be caused by a failed attempt to shoot yourself but basically all methods come with a risk of brain damage if failed

how bad on average is the brain damage with drowing. Is it worse than other methods?

its hard to say "how bad the brain damage" will be because it really depends on how long your brain goes without oxygen and water temperature (warm water causes drowning faster), brain damage starts within a few minutes as the cells of your brain begin to die without oxygen, typically the hippocampus goes first and the cerebral cortex, which causes problems paying attention, problems with short term memory, processing speed slowing down, executive function issues, and personality changes which can lead to more feelings of depression and irritability, vegetative states are possible as well as being minimally conscious, severe disability is possible if your brain goes without oxygen for long enough

research "hypoxic brain injury"
