Has anyone found it difficult to explain the concept of Euthanasia to their parents/family members and be met with shock, denial, blame etc. I try to explain to them that suicide can be a merciful thing and perhaps it is the best way to go and automatically my dad brings up religion and work. Smh. As Victor D'Altorio said in the documentary, this isn't living, this is torture.

Then he goes on about not wanting to have to mind a grown man in his house. Were you not the same kind loving dad I had just a moment ago? Like I don't get this world. Where is all of this coming from? It seems like the people around me are losing their minds. I have just about lost mine too. Young just trying to figure out life and find purpose. Someday CTB maybe.

I believe that a lot of people just get into this period time where they can handle pretty much all the pressures that life throws at them. Not necessarily handling everything perfectly but just enough so that it doesn't develop into a big problem. Things are just sort of easy to handle, at most a little bit annoying. Everything that can't be handled either can be ignored or will be taken care of on its own. You live like that for a decade or more and you believe it'll be like that until death. Especially, if you aren't living close or working with old folks who are visually deteriorating, you aren't inclined to believe that there's suffering that we can't ease in a way or that isn't temporary. It's hard for these people to realize that eventually things are going to get worse and nobody will be able to help you. You're just waiting for your own death.

Yes, and it's a normal reaction for someone who is not suffering. At least, I could get my loved ones to admit that they wouldn't know what to do if they were me. That they don't and can't imagine what it is like. Honestly, that was enough for me and definitely more than I ever expected.

Humans both fear and misunderstand death. I was actually this way for a time. It's unknown. Life is all humans are conscious of. The thought that someone can look at life... all of it's joys, pains, sorrows, and so-called beauty... and say "no thanks" is beyond comprehension for the human mind. Particularly, in western cultures. So, for someone to actually see suicide as a positive MUST mean that they're 'crazy' or somehow disordered. I'm going to share with you an interesting article that speaks to this pretty directly. I found it some time back. It really shines the light on a lot of ignorance that the concept of suicide is met with.

I'll always maintain that just because someone is suicidal doesn't always mean that they're disordered.

To me, it's just not worth talking to people about this who won't even try to understand. There are so many people in this world who are so blinded by their delusional beliefs to the point that they refuse to accept that wanting suicide is a perfectly logical response to enduring the futile process that is life, it should be a human right to peacefully free ourselves from all suffering and humans deserve the option to take control over when they exit this world. But I certainly despise this hellish world where euthanasia isn't even legal in most countries.
