  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Just a heads up to anyone living in Canada, if the conservatives win the upcoming election (Sept. 20, 2021) they plan to revoke Bill C-7 which would allow people with mental health conditions to apply for medically assisted death (MAID). You can confirm for yourself in their plan book thing.

Bill C-7 was set to take effect on March 17, 2023, and was/is my plan for getting out without need for a violent end. If this gets taken away from me I genuinely don't know how I'll be able to cope. I keep a noose under my bed at all times just in case, but I really wanted to avoid that method.

As soon as I read their plan I had a panic attack and started crying. I'm so scared. I want to be able to have a peaceful death, and not have to go out into a forest to die like an animal.

If it can reassure you even in countries where it is legalised the rate of approval is still very low, so you probably wouldn't have been accepted even if you had a severe mental health condition.

They fucking piss me off so much. Sometimes I think politics is dumb and I really don't hate anyone for their beliefs. But when I see shit like this it makes me really, really fucking mad. How dare they obstruct the right to die? Fucking disgusting.

Exactly! And unfortunately I am pretty sure they're going to win. 20 days to hold out hope I guess.

Oh, it's conservatives ruining it for everyone yet once again. I can't stand it. I'm not surprised though.

Are you helping your side in any way?
If by helping you mean voting then yes. Unfortunately I fear that people who would typically vote Liberal and are annoyed with Trudeau are more likely to switch to Conservative over NDP because the Liberal party is more centrist or center-right than left winged. And then theres the people who wont vote for NDP because the party leader is Sikh

When people say "Take mental health seriously" but have beliefs such as this, they just completely contradict themselves.

We all deserve an option of a peaceful exit on our own terms, I understand why this would cause you so much upset. I find it ridiculous how they still deny the right to die and how society expects us to suffer for decades.

Getting hanged by yourself in a forest is arguably a better death than what animals go through at slaughterhouses.

The conservatives didn't win, and it's still a minority government lead by the liberals. For the time being, Bill C-7 passed and comes into effect March 17 2023, but the mental illness provision is being "reviewed" and we're suppposed to learn more about it sometime in March of this year (2022).
