Seen someone die by it recently in the news. Is it likely? From what I heard it isn't but I'm curious what you guys think

People can die from only Benadryl overdose! I think it's a matter of how fast can you be saved… i just took a whole bottle of NyQuil and I feel funny and very dizzy.. I have to die I just can't take it anymore. Maybe I should try Benadryl if I'm still alive in the morning

It slow our breathing, and lower our blood pressure. The more histamine receptors Benadryl blocks, the worse those symptoms can become so if you take a lot you will literally stop breathing

I don't know the resources they have here so outdated and it's impossible to find.. Benadryl caused death to children's and adults actually two people died by suicide using this method according to the news. It's an easy way to go if you don't get saved immediately

I googled it. It says a fatal outcome is uncommon. Probably why it isn't talked about much

overdosing on benedryl sucks and unless u take an obscene amount, you wont die, you'll just have your organs fail
people have taken 10000mg+ of dph and still survived
ctb by otc meds is ususlly pretty bad idea

Diphenhydramine OD is awful and unreliable even mixed with SSRI's and alcohol. Been there, tried that, still here ~15 years later...
It was torturous, and we are pretty sure that attempt is why we have been anhedonic since then as well as other neurological problems. Organ damage is also very much a possibility.
It is possible, but it seems much more likely to survive than not. There is a reason there is no mega-thread for it. In general, anything you can get OTC is not a good idea at all.
If one is to utilize that lovely search option top right, there are plenty of posts about why one should NOT attempt to CTB with Diphenhydramine including our own going into detail about what it felt like.

As far as the recent news... We think there is a lot that isn't being told and the entire situation is very tragic and involves some coverup. Nex did not deserve what he was put through. (AFAIK, he/him is correct. Nex Previously went by they/them but later came out as trans-masc and started going by he/him pronouns. If we are wrong on this, we are immensely sorry.)

I od'd on Benadryl a few years ago and landed in the hospital. It was very painful, it made me hallucinate and it fucked up my memory. Benadryl is NOT the way to go.

Can you tell me what exactly hurt you? What part of the body hurt, what were the sensations?

From our experience, EVERYTHING hurt. Like burning, crawling, pins and needles all over and all throughout our body for hours. And trying to be stationary made it so much worse. It was full body and brain nerve pain. Like every nerve was firing off randomly.
And the hallucinations were annoying on top of that. For us, all the shadows came alive and there was a strong sense of dread and impending doom. We also came out of it with permanent problems. Haven't had a sense of time since. Have had severe memory problems since, and have been completely anhedonic since. And that was ~15 years ago.
We also get the same hallucinations anytime our mood gets really bad now, or when exhausted. Thankfully the hallucinations don't bother us anymore although they can be very distracting.

Physical pain is the most terrible thing that can happen. I hate a dense body because it is cursed with physical pain!! (
