I saw a tiktok while looking at edits of a character. i'll try screenshotting it and posting it here. but it was just something like "when it turns white instead of red" referencing SH, cutting to the bone. My immediate thought was that it wasnt possible. but i thought about it and i feel like it would depend on where you cut? Im not fully sure though because I dont have much experience with cutting myself.

They might be referring to the layer of skin called the dermis which when cut initially appears white before turning red from the blood flowing in. I could be wrong though cus they talk about "bedrock" which is just self harm speak for bone lol

This. The white you're seeing definitely isn't bone. Someone that is going down the road and not across the street doesn't have to worry about that kind of depth anyway. There are way more important things, not that I'm giving advice. S/h, no matter the intent HURTS. Yes, I'm speaking from experience.

It is possible and there are people who have done it before, but it's not very common. Most people who cut don't even hit the styro (the layer being referenced in the above text in the image).

I've only seen this once on twitter a couple years ago. They were a Japanese girl and I still always think about her even though her account has been banned. I can't even begin to imagine how painful it must've been to get to that point. What people are posting about on social media is typically epidermis or dermis (styro).
