  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

It seems that they have indefinitely shelved its extension to mental illness anyways.

Yes, which is bullshit.

Are you aware of Adam Maier-Clayton? He was a 27-year-old Canadian who fought the system for the right to die because of mental health issues, and lost. He ended up doing it himself. Interesting story for sure.

It was very refreshing to see that his parents supported him to the very end in his right to die. Sad though that they were not able to be there for him in his final moments due to legal reasons, however.

Didn't he have physical pain? Of course when pain defies explanation, the medical community will call it mental illness.

Yes, that as well. He said he was wracked with debilitating pain that felt like he was being burned with acid. He also suffered from OCD, depression and anxiety. If you click on his name in my post above there's a CBC story that describes the situation.

Fuck, how did I miss this for ten days? Disappointing but not surprising in the least.
