I think I've been elected by the gods as NEET supreme, because I can't fathom it, I can't understand how people can subject themselves to modern work environments and not have a complete mental collapse. Am I just too sensitive? I don't know, I really don't.

How can people have the mental fortitude to work and endure being exploited? Barely being able to get by with what they earn? It's unacceptable to me.
How can they work for something they have no passion for?
How can they work for those who care not about them?

the world is too insane bros
I might CTB soon, i have no idea what i'm doing here anymore lol

I was a NEET for many years. Then I got an online job which has helped me to pay the bills and to save for years. It's a little stressful, since being independent implies working at crazy hours, but that's better than going out there and have one of those nightmarish office jobs.

There's some money left and living expenses aren't very high where I live. It's enough for good food every day.

Being a NEET makes sense in an age where ppl mean nothing to their employers. Working years for someone only to be laid off, that's sad.

Also doesnt our persepective on money change when we know we're anyway gonna ctb lol

No, my perspective on money didn't change rather it's the only thing that can prevent me from CTB bc I really wouldn't have any problems in my life if my money problem was solved once and for all.

I've never seen it this way but it's true. Humans r resources in nowadays world and society.

neet here too, i don't understand how people take such pride in ''having a job'' even if it's shitty, and look down at us neets. it's one of the reasons for me to ctb, i don't have any job that makes me passionate enough to care about doing it

Finding something dull but not taxing might work for some. That's what I thought I was getting with my administrator job last year. The idea was that it won't stress me out and I'll have time for my music project and working on improving my computer programming skills. Boy did that backfire.

My boss is a plant pot though tbf.

I did 11 different jobs including training and internships but I couldn't work straight for more than 3 months before Sick leave again bc of mental health issues. I feel like a total loser. But got much experience though.

I had to look up NEET and noticed that this describes me pretty good

I think I'd enjoy being a NEET. I was out of work for a couple of months earlier in the year and it was pretty nice. But- the guilt trip I'd get would feel worse than just finding work. (I am 44, so, less excuse really.) I do for the main part do something I at least used to enjoy but honestly, I'm pretty fed up with the whole daily grind. It's just that the alternative feels worse for me.

Money, freedom. Stuff to do. When you do something and it works it's a nice feeling. Also even more importantly - colleagues always supported me and say that I am doing great. They helped me a lot to get better, and I also always helped other newbies.
It's a contrast to being treated like a trash by my parents.

Why I wanted to be a registered nurse before I deicded to CTB. Work environment where ur being helpful, being paid fairly, and it's something I enjoy. This is gonna sound fucked up but you are too sensitive. Just explore interests and what you might want to do.

By giving you money. Maybe independence is a better word. You can do whatever you like. No one can restrict you doing anything. Like buying a bottle of whisky and calling a couple of hookers for the evening. Or tie a rope with a noose in the middle of your room. Or go on a vacation. Whatever.

It's some sort of content management. I guess I'm kinda good to sort through information and present it in an efficient and interesting way (At least in my native language. My english isn't good)

Got it through an online application. It didn't require experience, but a couple months of unpaid training. During the pandemic I got a lot of new responsabilities, since they cut a lot of in-site jobs and I was already working from home, hence I got an upgraded status.

Funny thing is, many of my current functions will probably will get replaced by AI in the near future, so that eventually will be another motivation for ctb.

The problem is I know what field/job would actually make me happy. I already got a taste of it before. Unfortunately I haven't been able to actually work in that field. It's a huge part of my depression. Being exposed to a dopamine high from a job but then not ever being able to access it.

I think the key is to get a job doing something you enjoy and are passionate about. Those are the people full of happiness and joy.

In my experience... It doesn't help. I managed to work in 4 different video game dev companies (2 small studios and 2 triple A studios) and it didn't matter that I liked what I was doing. If the work conditions suck, constantly doing overtime, colleagues don't include you, managers ignore your input, bad compensation, too many tasks, no time given for further training, not able to leave work at the office, understaffed, impossible deadlines... Then you can still hate it so much.
In contrast, I also worked boring office jobs not related to creative business, so I also know what it's like to not liking the content of the job and working with shitty conditions.

To clarify, I agree that enjoying your work makes it much better than not enjoying. I just want to point out that you can still end up miserable if the workplace is a shit show.

And it's more likely that you end up with an employer who squeezes every drop out of you than ending up with an employer who is fair and human-oriented. Unicorns exist but they are pretty rare and mostly only available for people with connections.

Btw. I am a NEET now and can't imagine going back to finding a job that I might tolerate. I am done being disappointed again. There is no point in hoping, it's always the same. I live through my savings and leeching off my boyfriend who still thinks I'll get better (hahaha), but once it's all over then my only choice is to CTB.

I can't afford to be NEET. I live in a corruption riddled mess of a third world shithole that taxes the fuck out of us middle class slaves to provide unlimited freebies to the lower classes for guaranteed votes during elections and prop up the elite who own half the country's assets while providing no social benefits or security net. Think California run by Pablo Escobar with more than just a hint of Orwell's 1984. It's one of the factors that's pushing me to ctb. Working is the only reason I'm able to buy SN to do so

This is good advice, the happiest I have been in life is when I was passionate about a certain topic, and though I have since become burnt out and unable to find a new interest able to fill that void, I feel like if I was able to find something like that again, it would greatly improve my life.

Much easier said than done to actually find that special thing though, at least in my case. I really hope everyone here can find something special to them, because it really does feel great.
