Can you believe that there used to be a time consciousness didn't exist?

Up until a billion years ago, there were only non-sentient molecules on earth. There was nothing actually living thing, let alone suffering. How great is that?

I believe it and I consider the emergence of sentience on earth to be the greatest tradgey ever. When I look at other planets like mars, I am amazed at how peaceful it is. There's no wars there, no suffering, no pain, no bloodshed... just peace. However, on earth, the suffering that is occurring every second is unimaginable and I don't say this as an exaggeration. It's absolutely dismal here and I see the emergence of life as a horrifying mistake
