Can suicide be funny?

Gallows humor keeps me going.

I absolutely joke about suicide, and get through the anniversary of a loved one's very public suicide (that coincides with suicide prevention week) via black humor every single year. If my (nonexistent) memoirs were the subject of a movie, I like to think it would essentially be a darkly humorous comedy about chronic, treatment-resistant mental illness and suicide. Because sometimes, I have no choice but to laugh at the utter absurdity of it all.

Different people cope in different ways. This is mine. That said, I keep it to myself unless I know the other party shares my feelings, as I know this is a very sensitive subject and I don't want to hurt others.

I think it can be funny like if I was in acid or mushrooms I would frequently laugh on deep ass shit as if it was perfectly logical

It's alright if we want to joke about our own suicides or try to lighten the mood but not when it comes to other people's. Most people are in a really dark place when they choose to ctb.

I one hundred percent agree with this.

I often times look at the whole situation of modern human life as some sick joke being told by the universe. I'm glad I find some dark humor in it, because it would be a lot worse if I didn't. But I'm also aware that this is a tender subject and I don't want to disrespect others if they don't share this view.

I laugh at all sorts of uncomfortable things but that is different than finding something truly funny. I could never find my own death truly funny. To me even dark humor lifts me up a bit.

It can be, depending on your sense of humor.
I find my first attempt funny, just because I was 12 and it was with an elasticed skipping rope so as soon as I tried I just fell to the ground.

humour has it's place, and in personal circumstances then if you wish to make it light then do so, but never joke or make light of someone elses, as you could end up causing serious offence.
This morning, I got marketing post.... life insurance, I made a joke to my husband wondering whether I should get myself covered, he half laughed, said doubt they cover suicides but whats the small print.
in the right times to can lighten a dark time, but it has to be right, not done in a nasty way

I went to the library the other day and asked if they had any books about how to commit suicide.
The librarian said we had loads but we tend to lend them out and never get them back.

Well yeah, my friends laugh at my suicide jokes. I don't think they get why I make them tho. It's really hard for me to talk to people who I know so I hide behind jokes.

Yes, It can. If life can be funny or being born can be funny, then why does death always have to be depressing? If living and dying are two insignificant things, then neither needs to be taken seriously.

Can, rape, abortion, murder, car accidents or torture be funny? I think you can joke about anything in your own mind, although it would be hard to tell a joke on stage where people would laugh about such subjects. Suicide is probably easier to joke about than any of those other topics. I don't really find suicide funny although I laugh about it at times, more-so I laugh at the absurdity of life itself and the self-importance of humans.

We have to try and find humour where we can, the people insulting you for your opinions have either mistook you or seem as they want suicide to all be pain, suffering, sorrow, regret.... Haven't we had enough of that in life leading us to this...
I hope I eventually see the goof in it...

I find my suicidal thoughts to be hilarious and i even made jokes in my suicide letter, but I would never want another person to feel the way I feel.
