  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

Sanctioned Suicide is well worth a mass

I heard a quote along the lines of "24 hours without sleep, and your decision making goes to pieces, don't neglect your sleep." That quote got me thinking about the possibilities of beating Survival Instinct with sleep deprivation!

To start we all know alcohol has an effect on the nervous system in turn diluting Survival Instinct, but what about sleep as well?

Imagine this: you setup your noose or what have you smartly and with sound mind beforehand, and when dusk hits stay awake for 24 hours (or longer if you want), with entertainment such as gaming, watching T.V., etc
Then when the time comes, In a sleepy stupor do your method without pesky survival Instinct because you will be too tired to think but to sleep, Ha!

Plus, sleep is just death being shy, innit?

Thoughts?

Might need some advice

I'm sorry, @°Celsuis_Caesar , it doesn't quite work that way.

Yes, adequate sleep is absolutely essential for normal everyday functioning, but the human body is quite an amazing machine that can work well without sleep for much more than 24 hours.

SI is a bitch. It's very, very hard to overcome. It's what millions of years of evolution (from single-celled organisms) has programmed into our whole beings. And 24 hours of sleep deprivation isn't going to have much impact in overcoming it, I'm afraid.

This had the exact opposite effect for me. I've attempted partial twice and each time I dealt with SI, sleep deprivation, anxiety, and a lot of brain fog. As I got closer to my set date, all of those things ramped up to the extreme. IMO lack of sleep made things significantly worse, coupled with all the other issues, it made doing basic things and decisions extremely difficult for me. I am on doing it first thing I wake up next time to try and mitigate these issues.

I don't know how entertaining things will be when you have 24 hours to sit and think about what you're going to do.

SI isn't going to go anywhere.

Lack of sleep will guarantee any failure of any method requiring more than gross motor skill to implement. And you have to stay up for at least three - preferably four or more - days before you can even approach that level of sleepiness. Minimal use of stimulants or at least none toward the latter part of the protocol else you counteract the very effects you aim to achieve.

Interesting. However, adrenaline will always perk you up once your body senses danger. Though, there have been articles that mention about alcohol, aside from impaired cognitive function, reducing stress response. That is why alcohol consumption is closely linked with suicide.

I don't think this would work at all- I think you need to be able to concentrate. My plan is to concentrate on the bad things that have happened, the bad things that will be coming, the good things that were missed, and how the future looks bad- some combination of bad memories and a bad future; I have semi-rehearsed part of this and I think it will work- I hope on the first try, but I know it may take more than one.

Lack of sleep deprives you of very Basic factors of perception and rationality, but it doesnt shut down your most elementary instincts. Paired with intense depression, shitty environment and/or unhealthy lifestyle, it can make your internal self-debate go crazy.

In the span of the last 2 years i've Had streaks of intense insomnia that could go from 30-120 hours. Most often SI was at its last thread before I was about to do something impulsive. I also do a lot of physical work so its a miracle i dont look like a wreck. Well, sometimes i do look like my profile picture, lmao kek.

A lot of weed and drinking Has Been involved too. Its easy to say that while numb you dont really care. While somewhat true, its mainly about trying to forget that you annoingly still fucking care to some degree maybe, its hard to tell, its hard to live, its hard to leave, just let me sleep x-)
