Can someone please tell me for partial hanging , does the rope go below or above the Adam's apple? I'm female so I don't have one so can you describe the proper position. I read too many different things on this site and just want to be sure I'm doing it right.

Eh, for a male I was told right under the jaw, however even with a ratchet strap I couldn't blank out for nothing, I tried to use stress balls on either side of neck tryin to crush the cartoid artery, but again failed to find that sweet spot damnit. It's tricky as all hell to pass out using the nighty night method.

Mainly you want to attack the cartoid artery - everyone has those except I think I'm exempt. Suppress those and you should pass out in under 20sec, but it's really recessed under the skin, so compressing that is tricky.

This is as good a pic I can get, it's on the side of the neck.

I'm not sure if the night night method placement would be the same as partial hanging. Both methods are aiming for the carotids though so I assume it would be the same. I was sure that it went above Adam's apple more like top of neck under jawline but then I keep reading others saying to place it below and I don't understand that. You can't even feel a pulse below and I would think the rope would ride up once you let yourself hang anyways. Ughhhhhhh

Yes. I was told the best placement is above the Adams apple aka above mid neck, but I guess it don't work for every1? At least not for me.

Maybe the method you are using isn't creating enough pressure to close the carotids? I tried the tourniquet method and was only able to compress my jugular and that didn't go over well. I was left with broken blood vessels in my face and blood hemorrhage in my eye plus the marks on my neck.

Now I just scared myself again to attempt partial 😭

I was practicing, trying to find my carotid artery a while ago and I found it quite easily. Take two fingers and firmly place them around your neck. You want to find places where you can feel a strong pulse on one side of your neck. When you do, essentially find the equivalent spot on the other side of your neck with your other hand. Then press down firmly.

In my experience, I needed to swallow sometimes, but that's if you press against your neck bone. And it's a bit of trail and error on where the prime spot really is. For me, it was on the outer sides of my neck, but still under my jaw, but above my Adams apple. If you found the correct spot, you'll know because you'll feel a bit light headed and your arms will grow weak, and you'll quicky fade to black. It's almost euphoric in a sense.

This is just my experience. Hope it helped.

Now I've gotta find that sweet spot. Euphoria sensation here I come!

Yeah that's the thing, I don't have fat neck, but I'll keep trying.

I'm not an expert on anatomy, but I think the two schools of thought on carotid occlusion are due to the fact that at mid-neck and below, the carotid is a generally single structure. It's deeply buried under layers of fat and muscle, but if you can manage to press the neck in just the right way, you only have to cut off bloodflow at that one point. Above mid-neck/the Adam's apple, there are two branches of the carotid. It looks like one branch stays deep within the neck while the other gets closer to the skin. I think it's probably still possible to press them both closed, but you run the risk of only closing off the more-accessible outer branch. That might make you go unconscious for a time, but I suspect your brain would get enough blood for you to survive, if barely. Depending on how long you were out before you were found (or until the ligature slipped), you might end up with varying levels of brain damage. 😱

I think training materials aimed at law enforcement or the military might be helpful here. If those are too hard to find (they're probably not handed out to the general public like candy corn at Halloween), there's always how-to articles and videos made for the more Mad Max-type of doomsday prepper, and material for people who have choking fetishes. People with fetishes in particular can talk about their favorite activities for a looooong time, and in great detail.

I saw a video of someone succeeding with partial, he placed it below his adams apple. His ligature was tied over a door, he fell into hard facing the floor.
