Can hammers break office/hotel windows

I was thinking about this, if, say, you got 45 stories up in a building but there's no balcony. (And you can't get to the roof of the building.)


Would it be possible to use a simple hammer to break a window so you can make a jump? Or are the windows too sturdy?

Note that I probably wouldn't recommend this because somebody might call security.

The Mandalay Bay guy used a hammer to smash the window according to wikipedia. Although I really think you should be careful about this in case the glass harms someone down below.

How many smashes would it take? If it would take 10 smashes, the police might stop you before you can finish the job.

If you were caught could you say you were drunk and wanted to open the window and get fresh air or is that just mad? Probably mad. They could breathalize you to prove you were lying.

They would arrest you for trespassing and property destruction.

You could also simply take an emergency hammer with you, as it is present in buses or trains, for example. This should break almost every glass in 1-2 hits.
