If you are using nitrogen by yourself locked in a room somewhere and it doesn't go to plan and leaves you in a veggie state....you're still going to die eventually surely? Once you're brain damaged you need a lot of care. The person if not found will eventually pass away due to either the brain not working or other issues.
I'll be found before death sets in if the plan doesn't work, and with my luck it would take decades to die after that. Being unable to take care of myself would be hell on earth.
Just pay somebody. I'm sure you can find someone from the internet. Personally, i would still rather try N, or better yet, why not both?

For money? Yes. People do far more dumber things for practically nothing. The key is finding the guy who does it at least partly for empathy. If he is just in it for the money, he will take it and run as soon as you go limp.
I'd rather try N too, but I can't find it. I have SN but many don't recommend combining it with the exit bag.

I figure there are three kinds of people who'd respond to my ad: undercover cops, psychos who would take advantage of my unconsciousness, or, as you state, would just take the money and run.

I've been planning to use an EEBD hood from EM and a large tank of nitrogen while sitting in a recliner. But I have recurring doubts that something will go wrong and I'll wind up a vegetable, especially if it's true that nitrogen causes convulsions.

Do you think the hood instead of a bag will make that outcome less likely? I know no method succeeds 100% of the time but I used to think this one was close. Now I'm not so sure.
I'm not sure which is better but I wouldn't be afraid of brain death. This is just me, personally.

Thanks. My goal is brain death. It's brain damage that falls short of death that I'm worried about.

@befree, you are very wedded to the SCUBA method. I think you are doing a great disservice to forum members when you advocate a more expensive setup of equipment with no added benefit.

A proper SCUBA setup as you have suggested costs over a thousand dollars while an SCBA setup costs much less and is simpler to put together. (Just price out the setup you have listed prior.) Moreover, there are added complications to SCUBA unless the user is already a diver, i.e., connection to the cylinder when the cylinder follows a non-DIN standard, and removal of the mouthpiece to facilitate nasal breathing.

Again, there is absolutely no advantage to the SCUBA setup over the SCBA setup. Please do not mislead.
Hi Greenburg, thanks for the ongoing contributions here, I am unable to access your blog....suggestions? Best wishes k1w1

So you think it's okay for Greenberg to insult me by claiming I'm misleading members. It´s too bad that people are allowed to insult members and write false accusations. I have spent years studying this method and the technology of diving regulators. Everything I have written is correct. This has been confirmed to me by technicians. Many people around the world use this method successfully. A member of SS that I know well, has assisted a person with this method. So I know from eyewitnesses that the scuba method definitely works and is absolutely peaceful.

@Greenberg: I expect your apology.

I don't need to find anybody to do anything for me. I will strap my entire body to a deckchair with an SCBA in my head connected to a 2000L pure N₂ cylinder with enough gas to kill an elephant. There's no way I'm surviving that, no matter what mental gymnastics you do.
Why are you going to strap yourself to a deckchair?

Although it seems to be painless, make sure you have no way of you activating your SI. If not, you are all set, but before you go I highly recommend you to think of what you're doing before going away. I don't wish death on anyone.

Are there detailed instructions how to do SCBA method the same like Scrooge's guide? Btw I can't access your blog for some reason. I found a scuba mask that costs around 100 euros in Germany and looks pretty similar to the one Scrooge used, but not sure if links are allowed.

The process is the same.

SCBA and SCUBA have the same components (regulator (1st stage), demand valve (2nd stage) and mask) and the regulator has the same connection (DIN #13) in all the world except in the US (SCBAs are CGA-346 & CGA-347 there), but SCBA is better because it maintains a positive pressure inside the mask (some millibars over ambient) which creates a perfect seal. SCBA is explicitly designed to protect you from the external gas, SCUBA is not (it's designed for underwater use).

An important detail is that basically all SCBA regulators work on 300bar (DIN 300), so you have to buy an air-to-nitrogen prepared for a 300 bar connector on the air-side. In SCUBA there are 200bar (DIN 200) regulators.

This is the difference between the 200 and 300 bar air-to-nitrogen adapters for EU:
200 300 DIN air to nitrogen adapters

How much nitrogen is needed when using an EEBD?
