it is. and if it helps, i lurked infrequently, both before and after creating my account, and then finally started interacting with people in december. i think lurking vs being involved gives you a difference experience, at least where emotions are concerned. like, this is all so visceral to me.

You not coming off as pro-life at all. You just wish they are okay whether through death or alive and we don't know that as we have no idea how their attempt has played out. Its absolutely understandable to be scared for them and it shows you care about this person.
