hi all - I got a very good book out the library on depression which has a chapter on inflammation and depression. Which led me to finding Boswellia Resin. It's a long-standing remedy for inflammation in India and other places. For depression, they have only researched on mice with good success and then there are some anecdotes on Reddit.

I just took one capsule with food and it has helped instantly. Though if you try it obviously give it more time to work. It is definitely not placebo. The number of things I have tried and given up is endless.

My mind feels brighter, I feel relieved, more energy and tidied up a few things in my room that were really grubby.

I have had things work for a week or two then stop working, but even a day's relief is so welcome..This one is Viridian it cost me £15 for a small pot. It is frankincense and also smells amazing .

One of the theories on treatment resistant depression is that those people have higher levels of inflammation…

Anyway, sharing it here in case it helps you. Also I need to test it consistently, so will report back every few days.

Hugs to everybody that wants a virtual hug..

@blackwidow this is the small pot of it and the brand I have…below

Day 2 and I think I took the pill at lunchtime and it kicked in an hour or two later. Feel brighter minded, more able to do basic interactions and speak..

TBH it gives me more energy and makes me feel brighter, but I am still hating life. Just more functional than I was before. Like I can walk faster and have more energy.

It is making a difference, but like I hate life. It is worth taking for me at the moment and I guess also to give it more time - and could also try raising dose.

I went to a BBQ thing today (it was a bit 'care in the community' I mean people were kind and talked to me, but I don't have much to say and am not feeling social at all - then made myself walk home). But I could get out of bed. Hope that makes sense...

I will try a higher dose too maybe tomorrow.

Interesting, I found it for sale in a local internet store and it's not very expensive. Might try it, thanks for sharing your experience. First time hearing of it really

I tried Lion's Mane this week and it made me much worse. Then I found it decreases DHT which is probably the reason 🥶

A small % of people react really poorly to Lion's Mane https://old.reddit.com/r/LionsManeRecovery/

I took a high quality LM extract from Oriveda for awhile and I it didn't really help. I have a friend that swears it fixed his TBI issues though.

What were you trying to fix with LM? Maybe I can point you in the right direction. Biggest issue with most herbs is the hormonal effects unfortunately.

And OP, activated charcoal is another easy one to try for inflammation. Supports proper detox by cleaning the bile.

I have had an attempt with SN in 2019

Nothing really changed about me after the attempt but only recently I started being anxious that I might have got some brain damage from SN. Even though my cognitive abilities have not decreased (in some way maybe even improved somewhat)
I sifted through the whole forum and found out that in like 95% cases SN doesn't cause brain damage upon recovery. But there's still a chance. So I tried LM because it promised to recover neurons and neural connections in the brain
On the first couple of days of LM I actually felt a short-term but noticeable improvement. Then on the next day I woke up completely broken. I haven't felt this way since 2019. Depressed zombie, unable to do basic stuff, even thinking was taxing. So I found LM decreases testosterone. This is likely the cause. It was foolish of me to not research LM more thoroughly before buying

Lowering testosterone is actually good for women I think, so I gave the remaining LM to my sister )))

Yeah I'm a critic of crashing DHT in men. A lot of herbs are 5AR inhibitors to some degree. I think some of them get a bad rap because they don't do it to a significant extent, but its still touchy.

Lately I've been looking at cerbrolysin and cortexin for neuro repair.

I came across this cognitive impairment test recently, it might be relevant https://denutrients.substack.com/p/cognitive-self-check-rocf-25-rate
