I went to my doctor for my physical exam today and when she asked me questions pertaining to depression she eventually pushed me into saying that I was having symptoms of depression. She then went on to insist that isolation during covid must be the main contributer for my feelings. Though I don't want to discredit anyone else's experience and I know the mental health of others has been suffering under covid, I firmly believe that I have gotten no better or worse due to isolation. It's just frustrating that now when I talk about my feelings people just assume I was completely fine before covid. Some people have just always been depressed and suicidal and though covid may have made it worse for some people, assuming that everyone has had the same experience makes it harder for those who have mental health issues not related to the pandemic. It was also nice when her only solutions for me were "go outside more". I don't even know why I bother with doctors anymore.

Mate that sounds so irritating, I totally get why you're frustrated by the doctor. Your negative emotions are a lot easier for other people to deal with and understand if there's some big obvious circumstance that's causing it, even though that's obviously not actually the case for you.

I want to ctb but think I might wait until covid is over and has become a distant memory, because it really pisses me off to think that my death might be blamed on covid when actually i've been thinking about it for about a decade and covid is not relevant

I agree drs. are a pile of shit. They are literally high from all the money they are making every fucking minute just spouting off weird shit. You could tell her that it's been an issue before Covid. Either way...help sorta sucks from them.

I try to avoid doctors as much as possible, they are just motivated by money and they do everything to try and get rid of you as soon as possible. To them it is easy to just blame covid. They have not been helpful in my experiences. It must be really frustrating to have to go through that.

GP's suck for the most part. They have their place but they know very little about the suffering of the mentally ill. They are better at dealing with physical ailments than tackling the complexities of the mind.
