I hate my birthday. It fills me with dread and anxiety whenever that time of year comes. Honestly, I don't want to celebrate - the day that I was forced into this world isn't remarkable in any way. I ruined my parents' life. My mom gave up so much for me. I stripped her of her home country, opportunities, youth, and freedom. My birth came with her dreams being crushed. I feel like metal shackles and my mom is the prisoner. Though I don't personally care about my birthday, society has told us to view it as a "special day". People celebrate, laugh, drink, and socialize. In a way, I'm jealous and bitter. I don't have people who care about me that way. My birthday just exacerbates how crippling my loneliness feels. Despite having a partner and some 'friends', it's all superficial and surface-level. A birthday is as normal as any other day, but it would've been nice to feel special and seen just once.
