Quetiapine is the next medication for sleep which I have never tried in my own case.
For ages, temazepam was my reliable standby, but it no longer works for me. Currently, 20 to 25 mg crushed zolpidem is alternated with eszopiclone, but eszopiclone is not 100% reliable for me. (I try augmenting eszopiclone with melatonin supplementation, but I seem resistant to melatonin, something which worries my psychiatrist and primary care physician. Originally, they were telling me that melatonin could NOT fail, as it is a naturally occurring hormone, but then I dosed myself with melatonin immediately before undergoing a failed sleep study. I am rewriting the clinical records a bit, but I would much prefer that things which are "guaranteed" to work actually did work as advertised.)
For cases of biological attention deficit hyperactivity disorder like mine, the absolute WORST possible medication to take for trying to sleep is BENADRYL or any other over the counter drug containing the antihistamine DIPHENHYDRAMINE. With AD/HD, avoid Vicks ZzzQuil or anything else containing diphenhydramine. And if you have NOT been diagnosed with AD/HD and find that diphenhydramine revs you up and keeps you awake, then get yourself an evaluation for AD/HD, since diphenhydramine is not the only drug or medication your body will respond to paradoxically. (And if any medical doctor anywhere contradicts what I am saying, then that medical doctor is a charlatan, a quack who needs to be fired and avoided at all costs.)
