Okay, so lets separate this into 4 categories: Household / Nonhousehold and Full / Partial Hanging.
  • Recently i've been thinking either partial hanging or SN would be my choice CTB, but I'm totally stuck on what I would use for my ligature here, in terms of what would be most effective and the easiest. Lets split this into items you may already have and could get from your house, and items you would have to go buy. Also, lets split this by items that would be effective for a partial hanging, and items that would better fit a full suspension hanging.
  • I really appreciate the input anyone has to give. If this is not allowed or is tagged wrong, someone please let me know and/or move it if you're a moderator.
    Thanks, Claerant.

I can only speak to household/partial hanging as this is the only way I've tried. Both times I tried, I used household goods, I'm not entirely sure they're all that foolproof.

The first time I used dressing gown cord which was successful enough to work properly as a ligature and achieve unconsciousness, however I woke on the floor to find it had slipped/ moved on the door frame so possibly not the best material.

Second time around I made a makeshift noose from similar but added a scarf onto the part that went over the door so it was thicker/ less friction/ less likely to move and unfortunately, same thing happened again.

Having researched it to a T, I don't feel I did a lot wrong in terms of setup etc but poor materials in my experience.

Thats really unfortunate to hear in terms of the seemingly flawless setup and even then it still not working. How was getting to the point of being unconscious? What were you feeling at that time? Did you feel a lot of discomfort and/or start to "freak out?"

The first time was really, really uncomfortable. I struggled to block the carotid properly and it was very much just asphyxiation which wasn't pleasant but I just kept on with it. I did a few test runs for the second time to make sure it wasn't quite as unpleasant and managed to become unconscious fairly quickly second time around with not really any pain.

I personally am quite content with my decision to CTB so didn't really feel anything but peace. Even when it was uncomfortable I just kept thinking "a few more minutes of this and it'll be over". It was much more peaceful second time around, it just felt like a rush of blood to the head, everything went abit tingly and then I don't really remember much else.

I really think the key to it is test runs and preparation.
