Look up any drone footage of Beachy Head, that might give you an idea of what to expect.

Yes, the area up on the Downs is beautiful and peaceful. Many people do visit, you get a mixture of people. Hikers, dog walkers, day trippers, they're often the people you see desperate for that edge-of-cliff selfie. A Japanese woman did fall to her death whilst taking a selfie!

As someone else said, between the lighthouses is the guaranteed place. There are no shelves to land on.

You might end up with life-changing injuries which would make your life even harder and more challenging than it is now.

The fact that you did all of those things above - take a taxi, sat in the pub drinking alone - would have immediately marked you out to them all. Chaplains, etc.

No doubt before you even got to the pub, the taxi company would have alerted them. I think they have some kind of code to highlight a possible suicide.
Were you sectioned and if so, how does one release oneself from being sectioned?

What were the Chaplains like? In my experience of Church of England people, they come across as being very judgey and sanctimonious.

I doubt you would be able to get the words out in time.
Thank you for responding. Thats the thing about suicide attempts isn't it? I am so desperate to escape my abusive situation with no immediate relief (Thanks quarantine) that suicide feels right. But, 2 things can happen. 1, you die. Or 2, you survive but with life changing permanent mental and physical injuries.

Anyone looked into the cliffs near Salcombe? I've been thinking about them since reading about 3 jumpers who succeeded. No idea what part of the range is optimal though.

would you guys reccomend going on a "trip" first to check the place out or just go once and do it that time? I am not from UK so this is hard to decide cause I would want to get familiar but its quite the money for me ...
when I plan on actually doing it, is it suspicious to book a hotel or not? should I just go straight ahead without going anywhere (from station to cliffs)?
what time of day is the best to go? evening, night, early morning, afternoon? (considering the chaplaincy team)

thanks in advance
I know I have a lot of questions

have a good day everyone

I always check to see if anyone has jumped. I follow RNLI Eastbourne to get updates of who has jumped.
I know this is weird thing to say, but I want to see the after effects of a Beachy Head victim, to see if it would make me feel any different, whether it might deter me from going.

If you're into learning about Beachy Head suicides, I recommend the book Cliffs of Despair: A Journey to the Edge by Tom Hunt. It includes information on the few survivors as well as looking into the many reasons people come there. I got a Kindle copy on amazon for less than ten dollars.

That's really cool, I hadn't heard of this book.

Others will be able to give more information, but Beachy Head is a popular tourist spot, the South Downs way is a popular walking trail through there. I think the chaplains would only home in on you if you were hesitating, showing signs of nerves, shouting I'M GONNA JUMP etc.

I read somewhere that a lot of people are intoxicated when they CTB and even though I rarely drink (makes me feel even more depressed), I feel like drinking a bottle of wine or something before jumping will help me overcome SI.

So my question is... Is it true if you jump while intoxicated that there is a higher chance of survival because your muscles are relaxed and protect your organs when you hit the ground?... I really hope not, because I will probably need something to overcome SI...
What about mixing alcohol with anti depressants and/or painkillers?

I know I am overdoing it with the questions but this idea has been bugging me ... having answers gives me some peace of mind..

Any way, good evening everyone and thanks for everything so far!

Would you try a hot balloon ride like this one, something tells me he may have a death wish, lol.

I remember that. He died last year in a different stunt, if the comments are real.

I may have jumped in a past life because the topic always gives me anxiety

Yes your right he died in 2019 I didn't think to check to see if he was still alive when I said about he may have a death wish, mind you jumping out of a hot air balloon without a parachute you need to have a lot of trust in your friends.

RIP

Cheers

Geo
