  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I can agree with maybe having qualms about certain aspects. The accessability to minors troubles me but, that's a general internet problem and, it's very hard to solve while retaining anonymity provisions. I suppose my hope is that people were honest. That minors know they aren't allowed on the site till they turn 18. Plus, that parents have more clue about their child's state of mind and, what they might be accessing online.
I agree, it's distressing when minors are on here, but like you said, that's a problem across the entire Internet, it's not exclusive to SaSu.

I do my part and report any suspected minors [some are really stupid enough to say their real ages...] and to their credit, the mods and admins do remove the accounts.

I'm from the uk. I hope they don't shut it down.
It's not just that they can shut it down. They can tie up the host with litigation to make publishing the website there not worth the hassle. Bitchute recently pulled out of the UK for this reason.

I am going to do a separate post for this as the talk about shutting this site down and BBC spies inflitrating this site is disgusting. The mental ill health provision in the UK is disgusting anyway. You even mention suicide to a member of a mental health team, or crises line, you are threatened with a crises team visiting you and hospitalisation. It is more like a threat than offer of help. There is no safe space to discuss suicide, apart from support lines like the Samaritans.

To any "spies" monitoring this site, if Ofcom want to ban anything, they should ban specific subjects being mentioned, not the whole site as that would just push people who are already desperate and isolated into further isolation and deeper desperation. This place is a breathing space to discuss "forbidden" topics you can't discuss anywhere else, even with friends as they just go into panic. To ban this, and block things like assisted dying for people with severe mental ill health issues is just cruel when proper, compassionate provision is not made for such people by the Government anyway!
Many people in the UK think the BBC is a fucking disgrace. They knew about the likes of Jimmy Saville and others who abused children and people with disabilities and did fuck all. If anything, they gave them a platform of credibility.

Then they terrorise people who legally refuse to pay their shitty TV licence, with threats of court proceedings, fines and sending "the boys" round to intimidate you.

They're a bunch of lowlife scumbags and now, thanks to Adolf Starmer, I could face prison for these hurty words. But if I'm a rich TV presenter, I can commit unspeakable acts with impunity

Blocking this site might actually increase suicides.
I have chatted with countless people who found ways to cope with or overcome their problems. Remove this and they must flounder on their own until death wins the fight.
More survive than die right now.
This is True, I'm an example and also witnessed some others.
This place offert solace, advice from people that are akin to us and also allow you to some how relativise things with some new found perspective at time. Wih rêvent the hotblooded action.

I'm sure if any of them, and a life altering illness, they'd join in a second.
