i mostly agree with the overall sentiment of this thread but sometimes it really is that damn phone. short-form content and AI chatbots and the like are rotting people's brains
i remember being online a lot and got myself in troublesome situations as a kid and it because no responsible adult in my life had the ability to bother listening, empathizing or showing compassion to me when my family made me feel like shit everyday. just fluoride stare between memorizing protocols, forcing out a smile to hide that they resented me, or secretly drafting some bs diagnosis to ignore my problems. so obviously i would look elsewhere. if they took away my phone i'd just use the wii u gamepad to go on 4chan or something.
