Hey!

Quick question- looking to take my mind off being sick and needing some serious distraction. While I am a mild gamer, my partner is into this stuff more. Someone suggested Baldur's Gate 3 as a fun game to play with someone else, and its long and big and may help distract me a bit.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I got it on my steam account. I havent played it yet because I cannot focus right now, struggling with anhedonia. But when I was teen, I played 1 and 2, got fond memories of those games.
It is good game, especially if you are fan of forgotten realms setting.

BG3 is solid. I've probably spent more time in character creation than in the actual game. If you've got friends, it can be great, just don't rely on them being around. Do a solo run too, so you don't have to wait on anyone.

It's story heavy, tons of romance options if you're into that. If not, no big loss because the turn based combat holds up on its own. If you've played Divinity, it'll feel familiar.

Haven't played it, but gaming is definitely beneficial. I've been wanting to play Morrowind myself.

I remember a long time ago I saw a thread on here with the title 'A Reason not to CTB'

I think of the thread every now and then. Once I opened it, it said that the Nintendo Switch 2 was releasing.๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคญ

It's such a long game, I prefered enjoyed playing BG3 alone.

Try it, I guess, you don't need to finish a game in order to appreciate it. If you are playing with somebody, they should understand if you don't want to continue it.

Edit: For some reason I thought you want to play it with somebody else. If solo, you can always stop playing it much easier if you don't enjoy it.

My brother had BG3 on his ps5 so I tried it, I'm sure it's a great game, but the gameplay just isn't for me.

I'm sorry that you are not feeling well. BG3 looks really good. The voice acting is AMAZING. Its immersive, which would be good for when you're not feeling good and want distraction.
The only thing I'm cautious of is you saying youre a mild gamer. The game get's really technical and can become really challenging. It's turn based and starts to get a real 'chess' like feel. So if chess like puzzle are you thing go for it. But saying that you can also look up build guides online.

I'm in my late 30s, so gaming is a bit more a casual thing. I appreciate the tip.

Good advice.

Any open world, sandboxy games are great to get lost into. Didn't play BG3 but did play a bit of the first one (Not really my cup of tea). Extra points if it got procedural generation and a large amount of flexibility and freedom to allow me to feel like every corner is unexplored territory.

Elder Scrolls games are always a good one for me, but I wished there was an Elder Scrolls-like with procedural generation for a truly "Every world is a new world" feeling. Mods and randomizers help though.

procedural tools should be only used to fast the development of a videogame, but making procedural content I think is a mistake. Most of the times its not interesting content to get engaged with and tend to be boring

starfield is a good example of this
