For myself, I was 10-12. Intense undiagnosed depression. My only way of coping, was daydreaming and idolizing death, bc I was a Christian at the time. And wanted to go to heaven, to not be sad anymore.

Edit* it is very sad to see that most of us here have been dealing with this since we were little. If only society recognized that any age can experience mental health issues we may have received help and support a lot sooner. And wouldn't be where we are today 💔

For me there were 2 periods, one mid-teen years (around 14 year-old), and the second one, more serious, young adulthood (around 20 year-old).

I've always had issues, but mid-teens is where it fell off a cliff and never recovered

My mental health is genetic in nature, I was born with it and even at the age of 70, still the same, a daily battle.

i cant remember childhood that much. i think i was maybe okay in preschool, but i barely remember and i do remember having anxiety and struggles with social stuff.

from talking to my mom though, it seems like it really got bad when i was in kindergarten, so however old one is then i guess. nine years old is when i can remember it feeling really bad, and whwen i started being suicidal.

shit hit the fan around the age of 11 or 12 for me. before then i don't ever recall being truly unhappy. i think it was brought on by my parent's divorce at the time and it just spiraled from there, even though i don't care about the divorce anymore i've never felt consistently happy since then

For me it started around the age of 18 and one year later I had full blown schizophrenia for the first time. My friends finished school, started their lifes and found love and I ended up in a closed psychiatric ward. smoking weed is probably what triggered the first psychosis. I lost a part of my soul during that time that I never got back. I wish I could have had a normal life. :( now I'm 40 and everything is even a 100 times worse..

I remember wanting to ctb at around 7 or 8. I could've been younger than but my childhood memories are very fuzzy. Shitty home life stuff, neglect, the works. In elementary school I would fantasize about getting really sick or dying before those thoughts shifted to ctb. I would try to strangle myself with my hands or shoestring, and once tried to jump out of a car (which in hindsight was very funny imo)

always had mh issues but the first time i wanted to ctb was when i was 10 when my parents were divorcing and i had a terrible home life. then 12 when i had a severe ed, and again at 15-18 on and off due to abuse and unstable relationships and incurable mental illnesses and neurodivergence. attempted every year from 16-18
now 19 and ready to go 🪽

It didn't. My being suicidal is a perfectly rational reaction to the catastrophic life event that guarantees I'll have a miserable future unless I opt out.

My first big depressive spell was around the time I was in year 4. So maybe 9-10? Can't remember exactly. But I had a really bad teacher, coupled with being an outcast my early schooling life meant I wasn't going to enjoy any part of waking up.

My mental health declined bc of uncontrollable & external circumstances. This happend during my early 40s. As things didn't get worse rather stabilized my mental health recovered. Now I'm in my late 40s.
