Xenon is a gas existing in the atmosphere in trace amounts of 1 part in 10 million. It is produced as a byproduct of the production of liquid nitrogen, as air is cooled down to cryogenic temperatures, Xenon will turn into a liquid before nitrogen or oxygen do. It is relatively expensive at $10 per liter, and supplies are limited because no factory makes it exclusively, its a leftover from making liquid nitrogen.
Xenon is an anesthetic, preferred over chemical drugs, but not widely used due to scarcity. Everything you heard about an exit bag (more like an exit chamber) and nitrogen, you could do so with Xenon. It would absolutely put you to sleep way before suffocation.
Of course it is not the only anesthetic gas, but this one caught my attention because its already in the air.

And how expensive. Why not use Nitrogen? Readily available, cheap, and undetectable. Well apart from the bag on your head or scuba mask. And the cylinder and etc

Xenon has an atomic number of 54; like Argon, it is heavier than air and permeates near the ground. With the higher cost and increased scrutiny, what would be the reasons for using Xenon over Nitrogen?

The only advantage you have highlighted in your original post is that Xenon acts as an anesthetic when combined with oxygen. How is that an advantage when the intention is not to wakeup? And that all inert gases will "knock" you out at around the same time.

What do you mean "when combined with oxygen"? Of course its combined with oxygen in surgery

So what is the advantage of Xenon then? You have yet to justify the advantage(s) over Nitrogen or other commonly available inert gases? In other words, your argument is mute.

Xenon is actually just about the most perfect inhalational anesthetic (when compared to ether, chloroform, nitrous oxide, halothane, isoflurane, desflourne, and sevoflurane) due to it having minimal impacts on blood pressure or cardiac output. It isn't used because of cost and scarcity.

It does not need oxygen to function as an anesthetic, but due to the fact the concentration needed for anesthesia is around 80% (MAC), it must be used with supplemental oxygen we're it to be used in a surgical environment.

There is zero practical benefit for using xenon in a CTB sense, as the anesthetic effect doesn't play a role in death. It isn't worse than any of the other choices, but really isn't any better in this context. It is a completely moot point as the availability and cost make it a non-option.

In all the time I spent in operating rooms, having seen just about every form of general anesthesia there is, I never saw this one actually being used. The expense alone makes it very fringe. It's kind of like obsidian scalpel blades. They're out there, but they're just anomalies. If you've got enough money to get that much xenon, you can afford much better methods.

It isn't used beyond research due to the cost and scarcity. I would compare it to diamond scalpel blades, but at least those are used in ophthalmology.

Why? You can find ether at the hardware store or potentially any of the inhalational anesthetics that aren't scheduled if you are clever.

Quite honestly, nitrous oxide is much, much more abusable and euphoric.

Nitrous is much more fun, but I suspect ether would be more abusable (and flammable) than xenon due to ether having some analgesic effects.

Quite frankly, other than nitrous and it's nmda receptor antagonism, inhaled agents are very low on the recreational threshold.

I wouldn't say they were illegal here in the UK as they wouldn't be sold like they are on 2 of the most famous online shopping platforms which openly sell Nitrous Oxide. Don't bother ordering the small cannisters but instead but the 1 Ltr cannisters.
Here's a link to what I have.

There are xenon clinics/healing centers in cz and ru. A partner is said to have died during a xenon session in his own clinic.
