Anyone here envious of good artists?
No matter what I do, I can't seem to draw well. I can't get proportions or anatomy right owing to poor visual memory. It takes about 7-8 years of practice (from what I've heard) to excel in this field. I won't be here for that long.

Yes, I am introducing myself to the world of Blender but it is quite disheartening to me to know that it will take me years to be a pro master level amateur artist machoman with chest hair. I still want to be.

Drawing/painting takes a lot of letting go of oneself, patience, and observation.

I remember watching videos on youtube of people painting for the first time in their lives as young adults and up. Their paintings were amazingly beautiful, correct proportions, accurate sense of light, shading and depth.

A possible explanation was that they skipped the period in adolescence where their developing brain struggles to accurately illustrate perception. Perhaps perception itself has not yet fully developed.

Letting go of childhood instincts can be difficult. One can get there through time, patience, practice, stillness, and peace. Perseverance.

Here are a couple extra supplementary resources on Perseverance. I learned about these while studying screenwriting.

The five Ps: Patience. Perseverance. Passion. Purpose. Persistence.

I hope these help you!

I have no artistic talent and I have always been quite envious. Sometimes I like looking at art and a part of me wishes I could draw/paint like that. I am not good at anything and there is nothing that I enjoy anyway. There is no reason for me to stay here.
Also you should have posted this in off topic, as it does not directly relate to suicide. I wish you the best.

The idea that art or writing is only worth it if it's "good enough" for the consumption of others is capitalist bullshit. If it makes you feel good, do it. Especially if there are few things that do.

Yes, I always have been.

I had attempted to draw a lot when I was younger. Some if it I thought was good. It gave me what I think is one of the best feelings in the world, which is to create something you enjoy with your own hands. That was the same feeling I got when I could write.

Unfortunately, due to being a chronic and constantly depressed state and struggling with attention issues my entire life, I had no hope of ever honing any possible skills I could have had. Perhaps if I had not suffered from these neurological ailments, I would have had that 7-8 years of practice by now, since that was around the beginning of the end for me.

I struggled so much with anatomy also. It's like there's some kind of block in my head and I'm not able to visualize things well and translate what vague thing exists inside my head into reality. It was a frustrating and disheartening experience, since people were what I wanted to draw most.

I don't have the energy or heart to try anymore.
