No. A god or gods may exist or they may not, and I am not too interested in the answer. There will be no higher power that will come to help us; this means that they are real but do not care about our welfare, or that they do not exist at all. So the presence of a supernatural entity is irrelevant, because either way human beings are on their own.

After reading into different stances and attitudes I found that this is named: Apatheism.

Yes. I don't believe in any religion. I see it as a way for people to justify their empty existence and to try and find meaning. I think there is nothing, just emptiness.

I'm a religious, practicing Roman Catholic, but a sanctimonious fraud. A hypocrite whose existence should have been denied prior to conception.

Answering your question, I believe there is heaven, hell, and purgatory. God will be just with His judgment. May He have mercy on us all, especially those who died by suicide and those who really need it.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

You're just claiming that it was God that came from nothing if you believe in one. How does that help you?
The basic definition of God, disregarding regional flavors, is that it's something that does not depend on anything else for its existence. If there's no god then everything depends on something else for its existence, which makes a lot less sense when you start to unpack the logic.

That might be the definition but that doesn't mean that definition makes any sense. You might as well skip a step and say the universe itself doesn't depend on anything else for its existence. The only reason why people accept that God can be uncaused is because God is such a vague and meaningless term that we don't actually have any referent in mind when we use it. So it doesn't strike us as absurd quite as readily. But you can't just define something into being. If the universe needs a cause then so does God.

You're reading what I said backwards, because you're hung up on the easily dismissed image of God as an old man on a cloud (with varying clothes and haircuts depending on where you ask). What I'm saying that in the universe, there will be something that does not depend on anything else for its existence, while everything else does. That something is God.

So under that definition the universe itself can simply be God. And your initial assertion that everything couldn't have come from nothing isn't actually something you believe in.

Yes. I don't believe anything happens after death. No afterlife. After death you're just gone. Like before you were born.

I am atheist, but I'm very careful to distance myself from internet atheists and people like Bill Maher who are like "lol you believe in God you moron".

I had phases of Christian belief in childhood and early 20s, but I grew agnostic after that. Had a lot of discussions, read a lot, thought a lot, and became atheist (as in, I believe there is no god). I may discuss it once in a while, but thing is I'm not going to try to convert anyone. I don't appreciate Christians and Muslims trying to convert me, and I won't try to either. I'm happy to discuss but in the end I couldn't care less what you believe in. Whatever floats your boat.

That said, I am interested in the Bible and I occasionally read it. As a matter of interest in history, culture and psychology.

I hope so nothing but I am afraid of Murphy's law that has followed me my whole life. According to him, reincarnation would be the most likely option. :(

Would say more agnostic with atheistic leanings. I see no irrefutable proof for either side, but, I do tend to think the atheists are winning the argument thus far.

Cold hard atheist and physicalist. I believe everything in the universe can be explained as emerging from matter. The hardest question to answer from this perspective is, obviously, the hard problem of consciousness.

However, I think consciousness can be explained as an emergent level of matter with a bit of help from complexity theory and chaos theory.

Does that something actually mean anything to you as a human being? Does its existence console you, frighten you, fill you with awe? Do you think it cares how you live your life?

Yes. You don't have to act so incredulous. I've already pointed out that being attracted to ideas is no different than being attracted to people. You can tell me that this particular idea is not "your type", but you can't distance yourself by pretending you don't understand, when you really understand very well, or that these sorts of feelings are foreign to you, when they really are not.

I actually think that's fascinating, I wish I were capable of not being indifferent to this something. I assume you don't believe that it cares if you're a loner or someone who lives to do as many wonderful things for other humans as possible

I think we know so little about the universe that there very well could be a 'god' depending on how you define the term. Although I think our current religious explanations are silly however i think spirituality can be good for ones health.

I am. I don't think there is a clear delineation between life and death as I don't believe in personal continuity. We are constantly dying in every moment and we only exist in the present instance as we are.

Personally I hate it to use the word atheist, cos I find it ridiculous that someone who does not believe in a fairy tale has to be put a label on.
As I see it, atheism is simply synonymous with sceptisim, accepting reality as it is without inventing imaginary hobgoblins.
Or to quote Philip K. Dick: "Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."
