• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Just walk around a graveyard and look at how many markers look unvisited etc. most people are forgotten after one or two generations. IMHO

pretty much, our lives are symbolised by a dashed line between birth and death. Every experience and relationship will be symbolised by some carved line between some numbers on a stone. Bright side, you will still have an impact, probably for all of time. The universe is deterministic so your energy and matter will be dispersed, and you will have played some role in history in being a member of a society or producing in an economy, you just won't be unique, but ultimately none of us will. Your life still happened, good or bad, and no one can change that

I think I don't care, I've always been like a living ghost. I have very little interaction with people, my family is small and they don't care much about me either..

I am sad that my "imaginary friends" will be leaving with me too. They are very good people, I wish they would come to life before then.

Especially when life has made it so hard for you that you have been inhibited to its trauma and delt with people who take everything seriously and judged you as a human existing alongside them and caring deeply about their own lives in this stupid world…
The fact that all will be forgotten about in death is exactly why it's a relief for me, I only hope to be permanently unconscious with this existence no longer my problem, I just want to forget about this torturous, futile existence that just causes pointless suffering with no limit as to how much agony one can feel, to me human existence truly does feel like the most terrible mistake, I'd be so relieved to permanently cease existing and never suffer ever again. Of course I wish I could erase my existence so it's like I never suffered, I want it to be like I never existed at all as I truly never should have been forced into this existence, I find it a tragedy how this existence was even imposed at all.

Most likely, I don't see how they will ever remember me for the rest of their life's.

We are all forgotten eventually, but who cares if someone in the future who we never met knows about us.

It only matters if the people you care about remember you and how they remember you, everything else is redundant.

Some people here will want their loved ones to remember them fondly, others not, then some like myself wish we could be forgotten be it so of no impact to others or they simply never wanted to exist in the first place.

it's a little scary to think about but i hope me being forgotten just means my loved ones were able to move on. at the end of the day whoever remembers me will die too, very few of us will actually be remembered, and that's okay. we don't matter as much as we think we do

I have thought of my sister who died by suicide Feb 14 last year every single day since then and I will til I die. The people who loved you will never forget you. Even her best friend who she only knew for a year online still regularly texts me saying that he misses her.

Unless we leave behind our own famous works of music, art, literature, we will all be forgotten within 100-150 years. For example, I remember my grandparents of course but never met my great-grandparents or great-great-grandparents. I know they existed but I don't KNOW them so I only remember them as an abstract. They existed. But I had no kids so their abstract memory ends with me. I have some siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews. Once the living ones are dead, there's nobody left to remember me or anyone before me. All good. That's just life.

Simple answer is yes , but not as soon as we go. Family and friends will always hold onto the memories of you until they eventually die too.

I'm sure multiple people have said this here but most likely yes, everyone will be forgotten, It just varies on multiple things, could take a week, a year, decades, who knows

If not soon after death, everyone is eventually forgotten. Unless you're a famous leader or dictator or like a serial killer. Then I guess you'd be remembered. But for us normal folk? 1-2 generations max

I think this brings up mixed feelings in me to be honest. If people continually remember you but you're dead/ killed yourself- will that not lock them in feeling sad periodically? Maybe it's best if they are able to forget us quickly and, move on.

I still grieve almost daily for my Mum who died 42 years ago. What good is that really doing her, or me come to that? There again, it also feels kind of sad that when a few more people go, no one will be left who remember her at all.

Really though, it's very few people who achieve legacy status. Maybe famous musicians are the best example. I wonder if people will still be aware of Elvis in a few hundred years time.

I know what you mean though. I suppose my best hope is that the people I have known and cared about in life are able to recall happier memories if they do think of me at all.

I guess it's still something you can do something about while you're alive- if you want people to have fond, happy memories of you- start creating more of them! Whatever you hope to be remembered for- kindness, humour, a talent in something etc. share more of it. Beyond that though, it's true- we have no control.

Still, as others have said, I carry with me mostly loving memories of many people I've loved and lost. Even people here who, relatively speaking I knew barely at all- I do still remember them, even years on.

so long as someone knew at least one person in their life, their name and legacy is bound to be uttered one last time

My uncle recently urged me to write a will and mentioned having my name on a tombstone "forever". I was at a loss for words as I didn't want to alarm him. My desire is to leave my body in the desert where it won't be found for a very long time if ever. Plus I'm concerned with this place being a prison planet and the ramifications of leaving a psychic anchor by having my name etched somewhere tethering myself to this place. I know these are batshit crazy thoughts to the average person so I keep them to myself.
