Partial for me. Used 2 belts looped together for both attempts, one attempt was attached to my metal bedframe (loftbed/bunkbed) and the other was from a tree. Failed due to SI/bad setup both times, hoping I won't fail the third time. Best of luck in whatever you choose to do.

I've tried partial several times. And based on my own experience and all the other threads on partial people have posted, it's far more complicated than the partial hanging thread makes it out to be. I've tried every possible location on my neck, I've put as much pressure on as I possible could, just can't get it done.

If you're able to find a better method, take the other method.

Belt from a closet. It was before I found this forum so I didn't know how to properly do it, I just kinda looped it around my neck and hung there. My neck started aching but that was it. I got down after I saw it wasn't working. I tried again recently, spent a good amount of time trying different spots but it wasn't working, I gave up

Full usually succeeds. If setup correctly it knocks you out quickly. Check the threads.

based on my own experience with partial hanging what you use matters a lot, the larger the surface with pressure, the easier it is I think a belt is better than a rope since it is flat and usually wider than a rope, belt can also be attached very easily to a door or window by simply placing the belt over the door and closing it with a knot on the other side as a stopper

i tried partial hanging - i tied a rope to a door handle, looped it over the top of the door so that it hung on the other side - i used a braided climbing rope, about 10mm thick i think.

Mine was partial as well when I was 17. I used a belt in my closet and as soon as I was about to pass out my SI kicked in. I remember clawing at my neck to get it off.

Tried partial several times with a rope attached to a hook. In my experience, partial hanging is way more complicated than it is depicted in the megathread. Every time my SI kicked in after having felt dizzy.

I tried partial twice one night one time after another. I used a tie tied to a wardrobe. When I got to the seizure-like part, both times I ended up in a position where there was no longer any pressure on my neck.

Another time was with a cable tied to a hook on a door. I was in a kneeling position (can't remember which position was the best one) and it was like I went to sleep and then woke up again, kneeling still.

I've tried belts in a closet multiple times, I've only gotten the stage where my vision becomes blurry / staticy. I failed due to SI and a bad setup.

Isn't the night-night method preferable? Less painful and does not activate SI.

I dont think hanging is painful, but there is alot of SI when everyting gets blurry but I never felt pain when attempting only alot of SI, but this is only my experience and sure it probably can be painful but I never felt pain

And Isn't the night-night method exactly the same principle as hanging?

Partial is not that great a method. It seems to be more luck than science.

I have tried partial hanging over ten times but each time my survival instincts kept kicking in and I untied the rope and chickened out. You kind of have to train yourself to get used to it and go farther each time.

I used bedsheets. Rolled them up in to a rope. It's not necessarily optimal because they're thick and typically not actually a good enough length to do it because of all the wrapping around in a noose but the knot works well. It's slides through well and it's not likely to break because of just the sheer amount of fabric and the way its pulling. The knot would probably give out I'd you fell with a lot of force, if you were trying to break your neck or something but otherwise I am fully confident it would have killed me if my SI hadn't kicked in and I found my footing again. As for a fixture, it's not very helpful because it is quite specific to my house but I had rafters I could use to wrap it around. As other people have noted, SI is a bitch for hanging in any form. Everything went grey and my body took over in trying to save me. And I was in too much shock after to go back and try again. I don't think I could ever do partial simply because that SI is so strong and I'd back out. Suicide, for me, ought to be a one and done thing, which sounds a bit silly reading it back.

I tried twice and I failed the first time because SI kicked in and I couldn't breath at all, I felt suffocated so I did put my feet back on the chair and the second time I ended up on the floor because the scarf slipped from my neck but I had blackout quickly I wonder if I didn't end up on the floor if I would have succeeded but one thing I know is not being able to breathe is so uncomfortable. The only reason why I didn't put my feet back on the chair the second time is because I had pushed the chair out of the way but I know SI is normal because obviously you will trying to end your life.

full with a belt and those pull up bars in my closet. si kicked in while it was painful and i couldn't get myself to stay in that position for more than 20-30 seconds. i repositioned the stool up multiple times while attempting just because it was so uncomfortable
