Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

What's on your list of books and what's your goal ?

My goal is 60 books in 2 months or either it's to log that I read a book 60 times in 2 months.

To get used to reading again I read 100% Match by Patrick C. Harrison llI.
The writing was bad and rushed but it was still somewhat entertaining, but I don't understand why everyone hyped it up. But then again are book recommendations from Tik Tok ever good? This is the second time I have been disappointed by a novel that was hyped up by that platform with the first being Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke by Eric LaRocca.

My list so far is mostly filled with horror novels and transgressive novels/fiction from some BookTubers I enjoy. Although most of them are very long I am going to attempt to finish some of them starting with the shorter ones.

Also do you think listening to an Audiobook counts? This is/was a pretty controversial topic in some reading spaces so I wonder what everyone's thoughts are on Audiobooks counting as reading or not counting as reading.

Wow, 60 books in 2 months! That's more than I read in a year. How many books do you read in a year.

I try to read 40- 50ish books in a year. Already on track to beat that goal. Partly because during the 2 weeks in the psych ward, I had a lot of time and read like 7 books.

I use Smart Audiobook player. I don't read any books, I listen to them. Right now I'm listening to ishura volume 2.I feel that's the best way to go. Straining your eyes isn't so fun.

I have only read 1 book this year but hopefully this will change when I become less busy with life things and adulting

( I want to start reading a lot of books as if I were a child or teen again it used to be so easy back then because there wasn't anything to do! )

but I guess for this year my goal will be small maybe 15 to 20 books in one year which may be easy if I choose to read more comic books, graphic novels, and manga than novels

the goal is 60 in 2 months because that's what the last log badge in the challenge is that I am participating in (every 5-15 days you get a reward I think?)

What books do you have in mind to reach your goal ? Or do you just find random ones ?

I have a Kindle and an Amazon wishlist full of ebooks. And everyday I check that list to see if any books are under $5, and if any are under 5, I will buy that book. So I literally have hundreds of books in my backlog.

That is why I prefer physical copies over digital ones, the eye straining issue.

Even though I wear my glasses and turn on the night filter thing that some devices have and dim the brightness when reading at night I still can't avoid straining my eyes.

Do you multitask while listening to your books? If so how do you manage to pay attention to and comprehend everything that going on? When I do this I get distracted and have to re-listen but oddly enough with podcasts I don't have to.

I am the same except I pirate some stuff and get other stuff from archive sites or have hundreds of bookmarks and I have yet to get around to them

:ahhha:

Do you make sure to read the ones you already have before deciding to purchase more or do you put a limit on the amount of purchases ?

I don't do any complex multi tasking but I walk around and get my steps for the day in 😎

you're right, if I do anything too complicated I'll have to keep rewinding the audiobook. not a big deal but still.. Screenshot 20250514 222305 Smart AudioBook Player

Took over a month just to read one book, so doubt would be able to read that many. Plus, only have two left and don't have any money, so that limits it.
