Discussion Anyone find it ironic that the people wanting to shut down SS dare to call us sick?

I was browsing the comments on that stupid Change.org petition to get SS shut down just for lols at the stupidity of it and I find it ironic they have the audacity to call us "sick". How are we the sick ones? This is a pro choice community. You can find resources on this site for if you want to end your life, and there's also resources and help for those trying to recover from the suicidal mindset under the "Recovery" section. Meanwhile these deluded control freaks want to shut us down and it seems would like to keep people here against their will who DO NOT want to be here on this planet and in many cases are in great physical or emotional pain. My fave (NOT) comment from these anti choice loonies is probably "Only god says when you can leave this earth" . Also, in my short time being on this page it seems most of the members here have been warm, friendly, and helpful with the questions I have asked. Where tf is all this harassment and bullying they're talking about? Might not have been here terribly long but I sure haven't found any so far.

Even if they shut us down another site will pop up to take its former place - I mean U can't end anything anyway it always finds a way to resurrect. Just like with Limewire.

Society in general finds a way to sensitize or otherwise demoralize something they don't agree with but they don't care what the affected in general has to say about the matter,. They don't care much about the LGBTQ whatever the abc soup of it is, so why do they care about someone wanting to end their life?

Seriously, it is a waste of time reading pro life petitions. It is all nonsense what they say. People like that make this world a worse place and are the type of people who drive people to want suicide in the first place. Suicide is a human right and a personal choice and if someone wants to exit there is nothing wrong with that. That is a fact and none of us have any obligations to live.

This world is horrifying and I want nothing to do with this life. Trying to force others to live is cruelty. It is just prolonging suffering. As I have said before I wish that euthanasia is legalised so this website would not even have to exist in the first place. Taking away websites and method information would just mean that people resort to painful and risky methods and would in no way reduce suicide at all.

I have to admit I'm surprised this site exists and it took me ages to stumble upon it but I'm very glad I did. We NEED this place. It's like they say you can try and stop teens having sex or stop people taking drugs but they will do it either way. So the best you can do is educate them on the risks and say well if your mind is made up and you're gonna do it anyway have all the info and do it properly.

as much as i hate the fact that places like this exist, i also think its necessary that they do. yes, the information passed along this website is very dangerous. but i feel like this information should be allowed to exist. besides, people who come here are already teetering on the edge, its not like this place turns people suicidal. we already were!
i dont think anyone here encourages suicide, but it would be an outright lie to say that many aren't complicit in it though. im very on the fence about a lot of this. when i was younger i was very anti-suicide, though being suicidal myself. i didn't want anyone to kill themselves, and honestly? not the worst wish to have. i still don't want people to check themselves out early, but i realize that everyone has the right to.

i realize that a lot of people backing these petitions have lost loved ones to suicide, and i sympathize with them despite disagreeing with them. that's a devastating loss, and why wouldn't they lash out? i'd lash out too. i think most would. i don't hate ""pro-lifers"" (in the suicidal sense) or people who spread around """stay alive propaganda""" (this is such a funny term to me, im so so sorry i cant take it seriously), i think that they just are going about things the wrong way. misguided is a good word to use!

you have to admit, this place looks PREETTTYYYYY bad on a surface level, especially to someone who hasn't had suicidal ideation or much experience with the mental health system.

That kind of people really makes me sick. Their bahaviour affects me in the bad way. They want to lock us up just to make sure we won't get out of the bubble. They want things to seem fine when the things arent fine. They want pure dominance over the cursed. Driven by hatred towards the minority. If I only had one word to describe this site, it would be 'supportive.' I too haven't been here long but I've never come across a member actively encouraging another member to end their life (it's against the rules isn't it anyway?) Reckon I've read much nastier, hateful comments on YouTube!

I think most of us wish the best for fellow members and would be happy to hear someone had turned things around- often suggesting things to try.

On the other hand, most people seem empathetic and compassionate enough to understand that this might not feel like a possibility for some folk. We are pro-choice and it follows that we all recognise that we should all have autonomy over our own lives and deaths.

I think there's this fear that sites like this 'cause' suicide when it's really shitty life experiences that create the desire for suicide. Sites like these perhaps advise on the most reliable means to do it. Maybe it's that that the pro-lifers don't like.

I suppose it's very difficult territory when a particularly vulnerable person (eg a minor) gets hold of detailed information on how to ctb. Still, I think again, there is an age restriction here? I guess it would be very traumatic to loose someone to suicide. I guess it's kind of natural they would look for someone to blame. Just wish they could respect that it was that person's decision.

Also, they have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to the subject of divinity. If God exists, It's in ALL of us, so we ALL have every right to leave this Earth whenever we choose. The anti-choice loonies (I like that, it describes them perfectly) probably subscribe to one of the abrahamic cult religions, so of course their opinions of us will be ironically incorrect.

That's always got me- God chooses when you die. How can we be sure that we weren't supposed to die of whatever disease we got treatment for? I know they counter argue that with- God gave mankind the knowledge to prolongue life- so that makes it his will... but then surely, he/she/it also 'blessed' us with the formula for Nembutal.

Yeah I'm sick. In physical pain every damn day resorting to paracetamol & codeine which will destroy my liver in the long run but it dampens the pain a lil' temporarily. Autistic & struggle to navigate the unwritten rules neurotypical landscape & isolated. I could deal with the mental issues; holding it down but physical pain every day? No way.

If I was issued cannabis, morphine or some sort of opioid that would remove the pain sure but that ain't fucking happening now is it, oh they care so much about you living yet they won't address why we wanna die in the first place.

I seriously wouldn't worry too much about it. That stupid Change.org petition only has 11,029 signers and was posted over 2 years ago. I wouldn't worry much about it unless it were to have over 100,000+ signers and they were to actually manage to get it sent to an organization that could potentially shut it down like the the DOJ or FBI or Congress.

When I say "sick" when referring to these anti choice control freaks I'm talking the "sick piece of shit/you're a bad person" type of sick. Not the mentally or physically ill type of sick. Yeah admittedly posts wishing death on the entirety of the human race probably aren't particularly helpful. But, I reckon they're in the minority around here. I reckon most here just want their own lives to end, and peacefully. Nothing wrong with that.
