Idk if anyone does that as well, but when my thoughts start to spiral ig, I don't know how else to put it. I put on my headphones and I play music literally on max volume or noises like rain, fire place and so on. Most ppl who have iPhones prob now that, but yeah you can switch on some background noises, I only noticed that recently. Well anyway, when it's on max volume it blocks my thoughts and I like that. I know it's just a temporary coping mechanism, but it helps to calm me down a bit

Better be careful with that! Tinnitus is right around the corner. And you will have a whole different can of worms then 😖.

No, but I listened to music too loud for years & now I have tinnitus. It's on the milder side & has nothing to do with why I'll CTB, but tinnitus is some people's main CTB reason. Imagine never being able to hear silence again, and having silence replaced by an ever present high pitched sound 🙃.

Yess, I was about to ask what songs you listen to when at your lowest and for me it's hardstlye (bc it's very loud and mostly loud noise and somehow it kinda gives me a feeling of power and I feel more free) with high volume. Often times slowed or ultra slowed.

But when I feel moderately suicidal I listen to calm atmospheric or depressed music - sometimes high energy music, but slowed and reverbed. When I was like 16 or 17 I've listened to a youtube video in loop when I couldn't sleep. I had been awake for 48 hours because I couldn't sleep, but this playlist-video became my ultimate comfort somehow. It's called "i'm so alone and it's getting worse again, a playlist (slowed)" by anemoia.

My music taste is very broad and I've made a playlist for when I'm depressed (and a separate one for hardstyle).

Bingo. I got mine from a combination of playing/producing music too loud and head trauma. It's not intolerable, but it's always there.

True, some of my relatives actually have tinnitus, it's awful

I listen to hardstyle remixes a lot when I work out, I think it's the perfect music for that. I rlly like melancholic Russian dream-pop like зима or возвращайся, there's tons of them. Though they do often make me cry, for me a lot of them are connected with memories I guess. In general my music taste is also super broad, like I can listen to any genre

All the time since my teens.
I learned to live with having very mild tinnitus actually; you'll get used to listening to music at 100%. It's not as noticeable though after the first time unless you're going out of your way to pay attention to it or you're listening to a fucking subwoofer or putting your ear to a speaker.

That's good, it's better for your ears that way. I always need to have some noise in the background, even when I fall asleep. Otherwise it's super uncomfortable

True, you get used to listening on max volume, tho it depends on the headphones I guess. I got my Nothing (1) headphones recently and they're louder on max volume than my previous ones
