Ignoring all my mental illness, I'm just really fucking bored.

Maybe it's just a symptom of my mental illness?

Even if I had the money to do exciting things, like travel the world, that seems like it would get dull after a while.

I can't even do anything right now because of the current quarantine lockdown. All the shops are closed and we're not allowed to travel anywhere.

Anyone else just so bored?

Count me in, and take it from me—-it is indeed a royal bore. Travel, tropical living, $$, drugs, beers I am quite surprised that I have'nt thrown up yet. I ask myself "why can't I just die and get it over and done with?" This life is truly mind numbing.

You're not alone, currently feeling exactly the same- it's weird because I had thought the idea of staying at home 24/7 would be something I'd enjoy.
Now that I literally HAVE to stay at home, idk it just sucks.
I don't think I've ever been this bored in my life.

Your comment about eventually finding travel boring reminded me of this article you and/or others may find interesting. It's the initial scholarly publication of psychologist Nico Frijda's working theory of the laws of emotion:

I can't link the PDF, but the image shows the Google search term I used, the first result is a direct link to the PDF.

This like lockdown has aggravated my mental illness I think. I fell more suicidal and depressed since the start of this lockdown than I was before. Now all I do is just feel helpless n cry ... Mentally I m getting more ruined with no hope ..

Yeah, there's only so much to do in life before it all starts becoming monotonous. There wasn't a lot from the beginning anyway, it is all just distractions to keep us from pondering the pointlessness of it all. To be successful is to be a cog in the machine until you fall over and die, and death negates all of that work and all of those savings. It was always a worthless toil.

Boredom is a bitch. Even if there's something to do the lack of motivation kills the interest right away

I was actually going to write that. When things are really bad, you could stare at a freakin wall for hours and not be bored

Just because other people have it worse doesn't mean my smaller problems aren't valid. By your thought process, 99% of the problems on this site are from 'spoilt people' because most of us aren't 'truly suffering'

I'm shocked and disappointed that people here are accusing others of being "spoiled" rather than recognizing potential anhedonia, a very serious symptom of many mental illnesses including depression.

Right! If only people who have it worse than others are allowed to complain, then we'd have to go all the way down the line until only one person out of 7+ billion is allowed to complain. But then people would probably find a way to dismiss that one person's problems also. It's sad.

Add to that everyone alive is in a constant state of decay, with the "lucky" ones living long enough to see everyone they love die until they die an incredibly lonely death at the end. Life is inherently cruel to everyone. We don't need to play suffering olympics. We all can have legitimate gripes with this hellscape of an existence that none of us consented to.

No, life is mostly boring. At least in my experience. Lets say 50% - chores, school, work, just waiting etc. Then theres pain, heartbreak, stupidity, bad luck which is 49%. One remaining percent is good stuff

Yep.. Bored, I mean really really bored. I try to entertain myself but I'm just not easily amused. Maybe that's my issue, life just isn't entertaining enough for me

The subtle difference here is quite significant.

I've made the mistake of arguing with people who say "I just ate a whole box of cookies bc I'm so depressed". They get quite touchy when I point out that extreme depression leaves you barely able to eat.

Yes, it definitely is the boredom. I have ways to get better but they are just so long and boring. Living on the edge is exciting. Your life might be shorter but at least it won't be boring.

It's hard to heal or improve in a state of condemnation and negation, whether it's internal or external but especially internal.

Maybe a little bored, but mainly just hopeless. I have zero faith in myself to turn things around. I'm too weak.

I ignore lockdown in u.s.a., go about my business minus worries. I reason that if I contracted corona and died, none would be the wiser.

I've never really had any interest in living at all. All the things that others desperately want in their lives would only make me feel empty. Life itself is extremely boring, tedious and repetitive. I'm bored with suffering. I think even if all the horrible things in life were removed I would still want to be gone because I simply don't like enduring existence, it's not for me, I prefer the sound of nothingness.
