Most other people really ruin the human experience. I think it's the internet that fucked it all up. I opened the door for someone today and he got all pissy and told me to just go inside, so I did and the door ended up hitting him in the face as he exited. Good riddance.

Sometimes I just get sad over peoples reactions. There is very little good interaction between humans in real life
today I think. It could be that I am sensitive? I also try help people when Im out. Opening doors, leaving the seat or chair free for the
old person. Helping a lone mother with her loaded shopping wagon + 3 screaming kids.
Last week I helped a friend(?) who had some problems with his boss and place where he worked. As it looks now, I aint gonna
get anything in return. He has just dragged me down with him I say. Wrote him some papers for migration and the union.
About two hours on the phone, about one hour writing for him. Because he doesnt know my language...

Ah, damn it. People are ego and selfish with zero respect today.

Its advised that when you help ppl you should do it without wanting anything in return. But the reality is most of us want something in return even if that something is just a simple thank you or appreciation. I understand you so I'm sorry. But next time when help someone expect nothing in return so that way he won't be disappointed. I know its difficult to change your mindset but I think if you tell yourself beforehand that then if it happened you won't be disappointed that much.

All ppl are selfish. Even the ones who help others are selfish because they do it mostly for their own satisfaction. But I divide selfish into good and bad selfish. The good selfish deed result in helping someone while the bad don't. So more good selfish ppl are needed to make this world less horrible.

I expect nothing in return in my case. But this friend of mine do owe me in return. But thats another history... (like rent?)
And yes, it is pleasing to lend a hand. For the fun of it, for the smile you can get in return.

I am becoming more misanthropic over the years cause I'm just more negative and I don't see how the world could get better but I don't think is because of the internet, I mean-thanks to the internet I get the information about the world and that allowed me to become a misanthrope, ignorance is bliss but I'm glad I know this stuff. Money hungry ceos and ppl are ruining the planet

Yes. I've finally realized how meaningless existence is, in all its manifestations. This has made me see common people more and more as filthy and stupid animals. I'm not yet a full-blown misanthrope, though.

Working in retail for nearly 5 years and dealing with people in other aspects of my life has made me give up with people as a whole. If I can't trust my family nor friends then what the fuck am I supposed to do? Be alone while grinding a job I hate to save money for 1 trip a year. Which I had to cancel this year due to the pandemic. So eh.

One of my favourite Mr Robot quotes:

"There's no word for it, you know? There's 'orphan', 'widow', 'widower'. So what do you call someone who's lost everyone? Mom, dad, sister, girlfriend, friends. A survivor, or a walking time bomb? Elliot thinks the more he restricts everyone's access, the less vulnerable he'll be, but there's a trade-off that he's forgetting: if you block everyone, then what's the point of being here? Of doing all this? Of existing?"

Most people are the absolute worst

I don't think it's anything to do with the Internet, people have always been shitty. I just think that as time goes on, you get better at seeing the shitty ones for what they are.

A lot of people just seem to deal with their pain by making sure everyone around them feels even worse than they do.

I think I was misanthropic from my early years in my life, even before the Internet due to shitty childhood and upbringing. Also, while the Internet did play a role in it, I'd still attribute my misanthropy due to the human nature and realizing how shitty the world really is at a young age.

I agree with internet being one of the main issues which doesn't help humanity.
Yeah sure, we're connected and can talk to anybody in any part of the world instantly but...people are really mean online.

I love but hate technology!

i've actually become less misanthropic over time. i finally realized that humans are just animals with bioogically ingrained behaviors and ideas. they really just don't know any better. they aren't capable of self reflection and complex reasoning. we are the abnormal ones to our detriment...

I immediately became misanthropic five years ago when I found out a girl I was friends with who was definitely interested in me got with someone else instead. It was mostly my fault since I was emotionally unavailable due to being devastated by having my car broken into and having valuables stolen. This was before I felt the need to mistrust people so I thought nothing of leaving a drawstring bag in my car that might as well have held gym clothes instead of anything valuable.

This chain of events ended up confirming my worst fears about myself and about the world so since then I've decided I literally won't care about anyone else if that's how things are going to be. I would still be sad if my friends and family were gone, but honestly I'm so detached that I don't feel like I truly care about them or anyone else for nonselfish reasons.

While I still want to see the best in/for people, I don't trust anyone in the slightest to want the same for me. I've also become far more cautious of helping people because people have reacted negatively towards me in the past for it.

I burned out on misanthropy. At a certain point i accepted the idea of a long term positive human future seems to be kind of a stretch and we're just apes. I no longer have an urge to micromanage or critique others and their insane behavior, I just want to be left alone and enjoy before I eventually die/CTB
