Tinnitus
Hyperacusis
Frightening visual disturbances: very intrusive eye floaters, BFEP, light visual snow, blurry vision, afterimages ect.

I'm sorta used to tinnitus.......sorta.......mine is not too bad. But fairly bad hyperacusis and visual disturbances that seems to get progressively worse is mostly why I want to ctb. I can't deal with this torment. 2 of the most important senses to us humans (vision and hearing) have decided to torture me.........there is no point in life with this.

That sounds awful, I can't imagine how unbearable tinnitus would be, let alone all the rest of those symptoms.
The only thing remotely like that I get is visual disturbances which are ocular migraines. So the weird lights in my vision/ zig zags etc. You'll know what I mean if you get them. But tinnitus I can imagine would make life impossible to enjoy. I'm so sorry xxx

Thanks my dear.

Tinnitus is awful, but hyperacusis is really what makes life hell for me. I can't even be around people who laugh. Even dining with another person and the sound of them hitting the plate with cutlery while they eat, is too painful in my ears + all those horrible visual disturbances........and doctors just telling you to get used to it, and that everything looks fine in there (my eyes)........then why am my eyes spazzing out like this and why does it keep getting worse. it's beyond scary:aw:

the ocular migraine sounds awful too though. Sorry about that :(

Just tinnitus and it's usually not so bad, I'm used to it. Some cases are truly awful though. If you do a search on tinnitus on here you may see. I'm sorry about the other stuff too, that sounds really hard to deal with.

Yeah, I'll bet there are at least a handful of people here with at least tinnitus. tinnitus, when severe, causes suicidal urges.

Have you ever been tested for Chiari malformation? I know the symptoms you've described aren't a perfect match, but apparently symptoms described by people diagnosed with Chiari are highly variable.

I have all three of those problems and over 50 yes fifty other medical issues. my Tinnitus is awful I just spent almost $2,000 on hearing aids that generate a white noise kind of sound to help mask the loud ringing. I also use Xanax several times a day to help reduce the anxiety it gives me. My hyperacusis isn't that bad. some things bother me like my dog whining, and cat meowing, sometimes music as well, it just depends on the day. The worst thing for me is frequencies, some that most people in their late '20s should not even be able to hear. Things like the hum of a fast-charging pad, a high pitched hiss of a TV that is turned off, the sound of an overloaded surge protector, the noise that computer parts make, all drives me mad. My vision is awful too. I did not even know what visual show was until a friend complained about "seeing snow" and I realized that my vision looking like I was on the inside of a TV that was playing static was not how everyone's vision was. I see floaters too, can't see at night or at any distance that is more then a couple of feet from my face, I have something wrong with my eyes that might eventually make me go blind. I want to ctb because of medical issues, it is awful and I understand what your going through. I am sorry you have to go through all of that too.

I have tinnitus and some days it's hell. I use headphones to cover it up most days but I can't explain it to others who deal with it.

I have tinnitus.
My blurry vision is related to a heart condition.

they say antidepressants can cause tinnitus

I have a similar problem caused by chronic migraines. I stopped being able to tune out white noise and I hear just about everything.

sorry that you are dealing with this.

i've had tinnitus since i was 10 at least, sucks most of the days and i don't even remember how silence "sounds" like.
the other conditions that i have of those that you mentioned are visual snow and a lot of eye floaters, this is part of the reasons why i decided to stop pursuing any kind of artistic career.

not the main reasons as to why i want to ctb, but they don't make my life any easier.

I had chronic migraines for a while, it was awful. I have not had one in a very long time, but I no idea what changed. It is awful to not be able to tune out the noises regardless.

I know that feeling too, it seems like when I'm physically feeling better the urge to just ctb is back stronger than when I was feeling really sick.

Yes I get ocular migraine too! They are awful! Always go blind in one eye as well, for about an hour. Which is scary! I get ocular migraine when I'm super stressed. I've even had them on the occasion that I've had good news about something and I get a spike of happiness. I get black and white spots in my eye before I go temporarily blind. It's not pleasant.

lexapro made me hallucinate, but the doctors were saying with the ingredients it really shouldn't so it might have been a combination of medication or situational. haven't had serious hallucinations since.

I have both. Hyperacusis is the one that has recently gotten worse, to the point of being suicidal - it is what has made me to register on this forum.
It was mild to begin with (started last year, after a party). Slowly gotten worse to the point that I can't even speak now, or type on my laptop.
I am sorry you have it too. What's your story?
