A relatively low cost of living is the only thing that keeps me here. Plus all the hassle and trauma of moving.
Walton County, by any chance? My Dad grew up on a farm in Geneva County, Alabama. It was just a few miles from the Florida line.I live in FL but in a part that is only a stone-throw away from Alabama. It’s scary to be reminded of how low our rent is compared to the rest of the county, because I couldn’t even afford this rent if I lived alone. I’d be on the street, or worse, forced to live with my mentally/emotionally abusive mother.
Short of going to some nowhere town in the Midwest that doesn’t have good employment opportunities, there’s nowhere else to live “cheaply” other than the good ol’ south. I really don’t care about where I live though, you can’t outrun what’s in your own head.

after a while everything becomes stale. Comes with the territory of depression I suppose.
Close, Escambia County. Pretty much all the same though.Walton County, by any chance?
