Any medical professionals here - exit bag question

I've just been diagnosed with a condition that could lead to respiratory deterioration (heart failure) and I also smoke weed.

As of now my stats are still fine. My issue/fear is, if I wait too long, the exit bag won't work for me…

I am ok with time to death being longer and having to sit in the bag longer, that's fine. I have benzos and z-drugs I can use to stay calm and slow my breathing. I also am ordering an 80cf tank, as I know most people without breathing difficulties need 20cf to ctb, I am
Hoping this extra amount will give me a practice round or two plus enough to ctb.

If I do a practice round before I go and it goes well and I don't feel panic, can I assume that it's safe to proceed? Will 60cf be a good estimate?

The PPH says it will still work for significant respiratory failure it just loses appeal bc it can take longer to time of loss of consciousness and death. If I'm ok with that can I still rely on this method to not leave me brain dead?

I will preface my reply with the admission that I am not a medical professional so feel free to disregard my info with that caveat.

Its important to remember that the exit bag works not by poisoning you, but by providing an oxygen free environment that sufficiently displaces exhaled CO2 to prevent the hypercapnic reaction allowing you to peacefully pass out. With this in mind, breathing difficulties will understandably lengthen the process as it will take longer to exhale any unused oxygen in exchange for nitrogen, but should not hinder overall success. We all need oxygen to survive, and eventually any oxygen that is not exhaled would be used up. As long as there is enough nitrogen flowing to sustain the oxygen free environment, it should still be effective but will take a little longer.

Under these circumstances, I would not use the exit bag, but the helium (or nitrogen) method with diving equipment. It costs a bit more, but it´s safer and works faster.

I have looked into this but heard really mixed reviews on if the equipment works/fits. I plan on doing a trial run first and I don't start to pass out fairly soon I will consider this. But good to know this is an option thank you!

If you have the right equipment and follow the proven guide, the diving method is very safe.

Yeah, I'm going with the EEBD hood which has a rebreather type mask, looks and feels more reliable than my Exit Bag---But it takes like 3 minutes or so to lose consciousness ,as opposed to less than a minute for the Exit Bag---I also feel less claustrophobic with the hood instead of with the plastic bag

So the hood takes you longer to pass out? Why are you choosing the option that takes longer? Just curious

When you use the equipment that I have, you will be unconscious after 3-5 breaths. There is no rebreathing of exhaled air at all.
