I notice when I was a young teen I only liked white guys. Is this a trauma response or is this a result of media? Before my teens I liked black guys though but when my teens came about I stopped liking them because of being bullied so I felt they wouldn't accept me

I'm white and I have a similar experience , I can not stand to deal with whites who are from my own culture (southern white). But this is really only if they fit the stereotypes - uneducated , right wing, going into debt for a pick up even when they aren't blue collar , etc. i have severe anxiety being around them and I'm always on edge.

At the end of the day it's hard to predict who you like. Given my sociocultural background it's shocking the kind of people I like

When I was a teenager, I wished to meet and befriend foreigners since all my "schoolmates" were native Finns and treated me like trash, so I understand how you feel.

Funny thing actually, today I went shopping and the cashier was foreigner, and I felt more friendly and connected with them than 90% of Finns, thought that might also be how most foreigners are ten times friendlier and outgoing than most Finns.

So I'm sure it's the kind of "those people treated me like shit, so people who are not like them will probably treat me well".

There seems to be a trope that has even came into mainstream media products that the foreign/minority kid is part of the outcast group in a school setting etc. This is my recollection for someone who watched a lot of TV in the 90s and 2000s.

Of course nowadays with what some call "woke" they will make minority / foreign the star.

It's more complex than that. I think it's media, and culture and depending on your economic class and parents how they view themselves and nurture you.

I have never experienced more hate than from people of my race or community. The hate they all give each other, forcing me to pick sides or I am not one of them. I feel like being stuck between two worlds, but neither would accept me
