  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

Anyone else suffer from crippling anxiety? I get multiple panic attacks throughout the day. It affects my appetite so much. They make me feel sick and then I can't eat then that leads to me being weak and dizzy. These panic attacks also affect my sleep. I will fall asleep and wake up having one. I'm in a constant state of fight or flight which makes me want to run and leave my home but my anxiety has caused me to not be able to leave my home. I'm all alone now. I've lost everything due to this anxiety and will soon be losing my home. I don't know what I will do. I'm so scared 😭

You're not taking any benzos? They help to an extent.

I'm so sorry to read about your anxiety troubles and that you'll be losing your home.
Check with your local council and local charities, they may be able to help you.
My anxiety surfaces of a night time, a few hours before bed.
I get a watery mouth (like I'm going to be sick) and my heart beats so face, and my head spins.
The thought of having to go to bed each night and relive constant nightmares, puts me into such a state of panic.
Wish I could sleep like a "normal" person.

No I'm only on an antidepressant. I just had to take a gravol to help as the anxiety is making me so sick right now. The gravol just makes me drowsy but the anxiety even pushes it's way through that. I don't get any relief.
Do you know of any anxiety meds that don't cause you to be sedated? I don't want to be a zombie and out of it.

Venlafaxine could work for you but you'll have to wait for a month to see real difference. Initial side effects (dry mouth, a funny feeling in your jaw and/or chest, urge to yawn, etc.) should go away after two weeks. The downside is you won't be able to feel much in the long run, it doesn't sedate you but emotionally turns you into a robot.

I'd recommend alprazolam for short term relief. It works pretty fast, take it daily and you won't experience any anxiety or panic attacks.

Whatever you do, please don't take medical advice from strangers on a suicide forum.

As someone who has battled anxiety for years, I understand your despair ❤️

I'm on venlafaxine already. Have been on it for 21 years 🫤
I'm reading alprazolam is highly addictive so that would not be good for me. Thank you for trying to help.

I'm thankful that when I sleep I don't have nightmares or wake up with panic attacks... sleep is my only relent from this world and all my shitty memories. I'm so so sorry you have to go through this. This probably isn't helpful but aside from prescription medications you could try some herbal supplements for sleep as long as they don't interact badly with medication you already take?

My anxiety disorder really kicked in in my late 20's, but my OCD and extreme shyness go back to childhood. It's mostly genetic, so it really can't be fixed. I've tried a very long list of meds over the years and the only thing that helped to control it was benzos. I'm a socially isolated 62 year old, and new fears have crept in to join my already severe generalized anxiety. I think of suicide more than ever.

I never realised I had anxiety, as for my whole life, I have subconsciously stopped myself from getting in to anxiety-inducing situations. I'm indecisive, I overthink and I am so afraid of making a 'wrong' decision that I don't make one at all. A few years ago I was in a great financial position to buy my first home, but couldn't make a decision about which house to buy. Now I am priced out of the market, homeless and single, having lost my long-term relationship due to my indecisiveness.
I now know that it's all due to anxiety. I've been replaying my life in my mind and can see how my anxiety has ruined me. Yet I am still procrastinating decision making - I seem to want to have all my options open, but once I have made a decision then all of the other options won't be available, so I am stuck not doing anything.
