I find antidepressants evil as it mask the truth of those who suffer and who want liberation from unbearable conditions

Screw big pharma and it's PRO evil suffering

Been on them for about 7-10 years and it ruined me. Wow

I found them to be horrific. Yes, they temporarily "fixed" my emotional outbursts and constant crying, but then there were the side effects like inability to have sex, or even to sleep. Then when I wanted to wean myself off them...beyond miserable. Being on anti-depressants was the first time I experienced suicidal thoughts. That being said, I know they really help some people. They just didn't help me.

As any drug it alters your natural state of being. I am numb with no emotions
I heard that from people who take it, makes them feel like zombies. Some other types of antidepressants work better, exercise helps too in my case.

Yes it's horrible. It may work for some however I think over a year on them is too long and becomes self medicating your underlying true feelings. I been on them 7-10 years there is no way I can recover now

I have never had any good experiences with meds. They don't work on me, the most it does is give me withdrawal. F**k withdrawals.

The chemical imbalance theory makes me mad whenever a psychiatrist mentions it. Of course it might be true for some people but they literally did a mri on me and found nothing wrong. I feel like it not a chemical imbalance for me but rather a natural reaction to life circumstances.

Oh and the cost of the meds, milking money off the suffering of vulnerable people under the guise of help.

Everyone's different but my life has been greatly improved with anti-depressants, Mirtazapine to be specific. Without I could hardly function so I'm very glad to have them. Took me a couple years of experiments to find one for me.

I think given their abysmal track record and considering they only seem to work for half the people that take them, they aren't much better than a placebo.

Psychology isn't really a rigorous science like chemistry or biology. The biggest contribution that psychology has made was to separate people presenting various symptoms into diagnostic categories. It's pretty easy to say, this guy hears voices, this guy is depressed, this guy has post traumatic stress... but treating people, where it's possible, has been somewhat of a hit or miss for psychology.

I think the entire chemical imbalance hypothesis is a load of crap. There's no scientific test to diagnose anyone with any mental illness, it's just people labeling different behaviors. I think if someone is depressed, it's most often not because there is something wrong with them, or their brain, or the way they perceive reality, rather depression is a perfectly reasonable response for someone who is crappy material circumstances... poverty, tragedy trauma, etc... I would expect anyone who isn't a sociopath to experience depression and grief as a response to material circumstances that are less than ideal... but since it's much harder to change the world, or a persons circumstances, psychology often focuses on trying to change the person, or at least to try and teach them to be complacent in shitty circumstances. For a lot of people it might not be good enough to just live with depression, if nothing is ever done to address the source of their depression (soul crushing job) then that person will continue to be depressed. This is why medication I don't think helps most people.

I completely agree.

10% of Americans are on antidepressants. There is no way 10% of Americans have something chemically wrong with their brain. I know people who have gone on them due to a breakup. People dont know that it's okay to be depressed sometimes.

Doctors are glorified drug dealers. I've had multiple doctors try and put me on antidepressants. If I cannot survive in this world without mind altering drugs, I'm not meant to be here. Plain and simple. I cope with alcohol. The American way

I was mentally shattered and they helped me pull myself together. But they let deeper problems go unaddressed for decades, sowing the seeds for this current total breakdown… as a society, we're engaged in a massive experiment putting a huge percentage of our population on these drugs without any consideration or conversation about the long term outcome…

They aren't evil but are very hit and miss, not an anti-depressant but an anti-psychotic has improved my life massively.

I feel numb most of the time. Is there any meds that make me have feelings?

the cost:benefit ratio of them is beyond questionable. usually they help only a minority of people.
watch the documentary called "Medicating Normal". it's not free but you can download it on torrent websites anyway.

There is no such thing as a chemical imbalance. Psychs coined that term, so patients would trust them. In fact, most healthcare professionals do not fully understand the brain, depression, receptors, or the infamous serotonin and dopamine. When doing a study, scientist found out that in the serotonin levels were normal in depressed people and sometimes below normal in happy people. It is believed that the serotonin needed for happiness without anxiety derives from the stomach and not the brain. Another study proves that although meds works well for some people, no one really knows what about them is making them effective.

I was on low dose antidepressant for menopause, made me so sick. Then the withdrawals along with a neuro illness, made me a raging manic nightmare for y months. I then proceeded to ruin my life. Here I am 3 years later really wanting to ctb
