This story hit home for me on so many levels, because Cindy had, among other illnesses, the same disease as I do, ME/CFS.

She was also a lioness and shared the same attitude I did: fight, fight, fight, do not let the disease define you, do not turn into one of those statistics.

Unfortunately, I lost my courage after a decade, but she fought bravely for 30 years. That's admirable!

Her dying wish was for a journalist friend to tell her story so that other people would realize all humans should have the right to die with dignity.

Thanks for sharing. I appreciate stories like this. I can't fully relate to her because she sounds like she was happy, and she had a loving partner.... but like her I am reaching the end of my rope due to chronic illness.

Sad that there must be such a long article to show that assisted suicide isn't bad

This was beautiful, and made me cry. Thanks so much for sharing it. I've struggled with debilitating illness for a decade and relate to her on many levels as well.

I read this the other day, too. I have Sjogrens and some larger scope connective tissue disease. I am bedridden. I am also in awe at her decades of surviving. She even got married 10 years after getting sick! I am going to Pegasos with my partner, just like her, I leave in 2 weeks. I am devastated and this article gave me chills. I guess I know what bed I am dying in. Thank you for posting! @Epsilon0 - you have a wonderful spirit and keep on going. I am envious of you.
