I've heard about a fairly common policy where gun ranges do not let anyone rent a firearm if they walk in alone, unless they bring their own firearm. This is to prevent suicides at the range from happening. In my opinion, I wouldn't do it unless you absolutely have to. People will be watching and will attempt to wrestle the gun away from you if they suspect anything or see you aiming at yourself. Additionally, if the gun jams or otherwise doesn't fire, you could face a lot of potential negatives.
Do you think, in the case that I fail, I would get charges and/or possibly jail time?
Um… of course. You clearly haven't thought this through, not even slightly. It could go wrong in so many ways that you haven't even considered.

Thank you for the thread. I was just curious about it, but it is not a method that I would want to do. I do not want to inconvenience others like that, that would be very irresponsible of me. I would be very sad if I were to die and make other people feel sad in the process. but in really short, its not a good idea. people at ranges are very watchful for people who try to turn the gun on themself, and even if you were to get away with it, there's danger for everyone else there or at the very least, deeply scarring any other people at the range. not even mentioning that you would likely be charged quite a bit of jail time.

Personally, I don't think you would get jail time. Suicide is a crime but generally suicidal people aren't legally punished unless they put others at risk in their attempt, it's more of a mental health issue. Suicidal people will generally be hospitalized and observed to see what treatment suit you best. But there is a chance that if you try it and it fails you could have you're gun rights taken away.
