  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Years of numbness. When will it stop?

Tonight I received an alternate account warning after having this account for 5 months and no other account. A friend was banned today for having an alternate account. I have been using a VPN recently and so has my friend. Is this because the VPN changes location every time it is started? I will lock it to one city.

Thanks I really don't want to lose this account!

No it's not because you used a VPN. Lots of members use a VPN. It's because they can track the device you are using. Websites are able to finger print your device. Your phone or computer sends out all kinds of unique information when you connect to a website including type of device, model, operating system, browser information, the ISP you use, etc. Every device has a unique number identifying it which is also recorded when you log onto a website. The website you visit stores this information in a cookie. When you visit the website in the future, they know it's you.

Using a VPN, doesn't change this. The VPN only masks your location and tells them you are somewhere else. It doesn't stop your device from sending out this other information to the website. So if someone sets up an alternate email and uses a VPN to log in and set up a second account, the website will still know that it is the same person, because it can identify that the same device is being used .

Thanks. It just seemed like a coincidence that I had just started using a vpn and so did my friend when we were warned or banned.
