Is anyone here an alcoholic or heavy drinker

I have had a few periods of heavy drinking in my life and I'm into one now.

I've never experienced withdrawal symptoms beyond anxiety none of the nasty stuff that is quoted online . However as of late I have anhedonia really bad which I don't like.

Does anyone know if I stop how long it will take me to get back to being able to enjoy normal things like screwing exercising etc .

Heavy drinker myself for a long time. It's weird, in that I only experience anhedonia when sober, need alcohol to 'enjoy' things, even as simple as music.

From my time in AA, it may take up to 6 to 12 months to fully recover from longer term psychological issues.

It's important to taper off if you can as it will avoid the initial nasty DT period.

Thanks for the advice . I do not get DTs. The only withdrawal symptom I have is anxiety which I have had even before I ever drank.

The reason I choose to drink is because it loosens me up and allows me to flirt. I do not drink at home or during the day .

I have been addicted to alcohol a few times over the past 13 years. was never dependent to the point of getting physical withdrawal symptoms, but anhedonia would last for months after stopping, unless I replaced alcohol with another drug. The very last time I stopped drinking, I spent a few months addicted to stimulants afterwards :(.

It's been over 2.5 years since I've last had a drink, and since stopping the stimulant abuse, I have been using weed most days since.

I used to drink a lot and then I stopped. You should start feeling better right away and the benefits are cumulative.

Posts like this make me want to go deeper into the party lifestyle. If it's going to be literal months until I can feel like I normally do I might as well go deeper because I plan to die before i would hit rock bottom.

I need N in hand so I can go all out

Non-destructive things that will help: eat well, spend time outside. When I was drinking I did neither. A large proportion of my calories came from alcohol and so by stopping I was suddenly at a deficit.

Having a better diet helped me a lot with recovery. (And weed helped with the appetite)

I do exercise daily but not vigorously.

I hate the feeling I get when I order a normal meal and have to force myself to eat it . One workaround to this is I eat very flavorful foods. Typical food that aren't spicy don't cut it anymore
